Power Mech Projects has secured a contract from Indian Railways worth INR 227.95 crore, including GST, for setting up a maintenance depot for Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains in Karnataka. The project will be developed between Channasandra and Yelahanka stations under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) model. Awarded by South Western Railway, Bangalore, the work involves developing key infrastructure to support upcoming sleeper train operations. According to the company’s filing with the BSE, the scope of work focuses on building the required infrastructure to support maintenance operations for the upcoming Vande Bharat Sleeper train services. The execution period for the contract has been set at 30 months from the date of award.
Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are part of Indian Railways’ broader expansion of semi-high-speed services with enhanced passenger comfort, and maintenance depots like this are being developed to support their operational requirements across different regions.
