To boost urban development, the Andhra Pradesh government has implemented a policy that expedites approvals for high-rise building plans, guaranteeing clearance in as little as 72 hours. This initiative involves the establishment of a dedicated cell within the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) to oversee the swift processing of applications for buildings with 12 or more floors. The policy also encompasses projects utilizing Transferable Development Rights (TDR), aiming to attract private investments, enhance infrastructure, and generate employment opportunities. By addressing delays previously encountered at Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Urban Development Authorities (UDAs), the government seeks to streamline the approval process and foster a more transparent and investor-friendly environment.

In a decisive step to bolster urban infrastructure and stimulate economic growth, the Andhra Pradesh government has unveiled a policy to fast-track approvals for high-rise building plans. Under this new directive, proposals for structures comprising 12 or more floors will receive approval within a 72-hour timeframe.


To facilitate this expedited process, a specialised cell is being established within the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP). This unit will be responsible for the swift evaluation and clearance of development permissions, operating under a defined service level agreement (SLA) to ensure timely processing.

Municipal Administration Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar indicated that the government has sanctioned the DTCP's proposal to create this dedicated cell. He emphasised that the initiative is designed to eliminate bureaucratic delays and foster a more efficient approval mechanism. Projects incorporating Transferable Development Rights (TDR) will also benefit from this streamlined approach, promoting equitable development across various regions.

The government acknowledges that protracted approval processes at Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Urban Development Authorities (UDAs), coupled with administrative hurdles, have historically impeded development. By introducing this policy, the state aims to remove such obstacles, thereby encouraging private investment and facilitating the timely execution of large-scale projects.

This initiative is anticipated to not only enhance the state's infrastructure but also create substantial employment opportunities, contributing to the overall economic advancement of Andhra Pradesh. The establishment of a transparent and efficient approval system reflects the government's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for sustainable urban development.
