Developers selling floodplain properties will be labeled land mafias, and sale deeds must now clearly prohibit construction in these zones. This pre-monsoon crackdown combines technology and enforcement to protect ecological areas and prevent unregulated urban expansion.

The Noida Authority, under the leadership of CEO Lokesh M, launched an aerial surveillance initiative employing drones to detect and address unauthorized constructions along the Hindon and Yamuna floodplains. This measure responds to the escalating issue of illegal farmhouses and infrastructure developments encroaching upon these vulnerable areas.


The CEO emphasized the Authority's zero-tolerance policy towards such infractions, mandating that any newly identified illegal activities post-survey would result in departmental actions against responsible officials, including senior managers, lekhpals, and executive engineers from the irrigation department.

To bolster enforcement, a multi-departmental task force, led by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Dadri or Sadar, is being established. This team will be responsible for pinpointing illegal structures, initiating demolition procedures, and providing regular progress reports.

Furthermore, the Authority plans to identify and label individuals or entities developing and selling properties illegally on the floodplains as land mafias. The stamp and registration department has been instructed to supply data on registered sale deeds within these zones. Additionally, all new property deeds must explicitly state the prohibition of construction on floodplains to deter potential buyers from fraudulent transactions.

This crackdown serves as a preventive measure ahead of the monsoon season. The irrigation department has issued warnings that any damage to unauthorized structures due to flooding will be the sole responsibility of the violators, with no compensation provided by the government.

By integrating technological surveillance with strict regulatory measures, the Authority aims to safeguard ecological zones and protect citizens from the hazards of unregulated development. This initiative not only addresses immediate concerns but also sets a precedent for proactive urban planning and enforcement strategies in rapidly developing regions.
