Uttarakhand's Pauri district removed 95 illegal encroachments in Kalagarh as part of a campaign to reclaim government land. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reaffirmed strict action against unlawful occupants, emphasising cultural and demographic preservation. Over 5,000 acres have been reclaimed, following stringent land laws. The Uttarakhand Assembly recently passed a land reform bill. The administration aims to strengthen security, law enforcement, and cultural integrity through strict legal enforcement, ensuring government land remains protected for future generations while maintaining Uttarakhand's historical and demographic balance.
In Uttarakhand's Pauri district, 95 illegal encroachments in the Kalagarh area were removed by district administration authorities last week as part of an ongoing campaign to reclaim government land from unauthorised occupants. Officials stated that strict action was being taken to preserve the state's culture, traditions, and demographic balance.
As part of this campaign, government land that had been encroached upon was being freed, with firm measures implemented against illegal occupiers. The authorities confirmed that the demolition of these 95 illegal structures in Kalagarh was conducted in full compliance with legal regulations. No exceptions were granted to unauthorised occupants, ensuring that the law was applied uniformly.
It was emphasised by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami that any attempts to alter the culture, traditions, or original character of the state would not be tolerated. Strict action, it was stated, would be taken against those attempting to affect the demographic structure of Uttarakhand or occupy government land unlawfully.
This operation has led to significant concerns among land mafias and unauthorised occupants. Over 5,000 acres of land have been reclaimed so far from illegal encroachment.
This development follows the passing of a stringent land amendment bill by the Uttarakhand Assembly on 21st February. The Uttarakhand (Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Destruction and Land Reforms Act, 1950) (Amendment) Bill, 2025, was passed as part of a series of government initiatives aimed at reforming land management.
With these initiatives, Uttarakhand is positioned to strengthen its governance and ensure that state resources are safeguarded for future generations. Through these measures, the administration aims to create a balanced and well-regulated system, reinforcing law and order while maintaining the state's historical and cultural integrity.
