Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena conducted a comprehensive review of security and civic infrastructure in Narela sub-city, aiming to prevent crime and improve amenities. Measures include deploying 500 ex-servicemen for round-the-clock security, increasing police visibility, establishing beats in vacant flats, and launching a drive to identify repeat offenders. Authorities were directed to install protective infrastructure, such as barbed wire fences, high-mounted CCTV cameras, and streetlights. Additionally, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) were tasked with repairing roads and ensuring effective waste management to enhance the area's liveability.

The review highlighted the deployment of dedicated Police Control Room (PCR) vans for night patrolling, boosting police visibility, and creating beats in vacant Delhi Development Authority (DDA) flats. Saxena instructed authorities to focus on preventing crime, illegal land encroachments, and enhancing facilities to foster a safer environment.
Nearly 500 ex-servicemen will be deployed in shifts to secure DDA housing societies, complementing regular police patrolling. The Delhi Police was also directed to identify known offenders in the area. Additionally, the LG proposed transforming Narela sub-city into a hub for education and sports activities as part of a larger redevelopment plan.
The local Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) reported the existence of dark spots prone to criminal activities, prompting the LG to instruct DDA officials to ensure proper lighting in consultation with local police. He also suggested raising boundary wall heights and installing barbed wire fencing to prevent trespassing. Furthermore, CCTV cameras and streetlights will be mounted at unscalable heights and enclosed in protective wire meshes to avoid tampering.
In terms of civic amenities, Saxena asked all concerned agencies, especially the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), to expedite road repairs and implement efficient waste disposal systems. DDA officials assured that the deployment of ex-servicemen for round-the-clock security would begin within the next two weeks, providing additional support to law enforcement efforts.
The LG's review underscores the commitment to transforming Narela sub-city into a secure and well-equipped locality, addressing both immediate safety concerns and long-term infrastructure challenges. The planned measures aim to create a safer environment for residents and industries while enhancing the area's potential as an educational and sports hub. By combining heightened security initiatives with civic improvements, the move seeks to foster a more liveable and sustainable urban community.
