In Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district, officials have registered nine cases against landlords for failing to submit tenant information to local police for verification. This action follows concerns about potential anti-national elements posing as tenants or domestic workers. The Samba Police conducted this verification initiative, resulting in five cases at the Samba police station and two each at the Ghagwal and Bari Brahmana stations. The district magistrate has mandated compliance, urging residents to report tenant details for timely verification.
Officials in Jammu and Kashmir announced that nine cases have been filed against landlords in Samba district, for allegedly not providing tenant information to local police for verification. Most of these tenants are outsiders. The Samba Police carried out this initiative to monitor the presence of outsiders living as tenants or domestic helpers in the area. Of the nine cases, five were registered at the Samba police station, while two cases each were filed at the Ghagwal and Bari Brahmana police stations, in accordance with the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The district magistrate has mandated police verification of tenants, a requirement that the landlords in question did not adhere to, the spokesman noted. The Senior Superintendent of Police in Samba has also encouraged residents to provide complete information about their tenants and domestic helpers to the nearest police station to facilitate timely verification.
