• IPL Biologicals Ltd has opened its third manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, with an investment of INR 200 crore.
• The new plant will manufacture biofertilisers, biopesticides and crop health products, taking the company’s total production capacity to 25,000 kilolitres annually.
• Spread across 12 acres, the facility includes automated systems, zero-liquid-discharge operations and 500-kilowatt captive solar power generation.
• The company plans an additional investment of INR 210 crore in the next phase while expanding product registrations across 15 countries.
• IPL Biologicals said the expansion supports India’s push to reduce chemical fertiliser usage and promote sustainable farming solutions.
IPL Biologicals Ltd has inaugurated a new biological manufacturing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, with an investment of INR 200 crore, strengthening its presence in India’s growing biofertiliser and biopesticide market. The facility is the company’s third manufacturing unit and increases its total production capacity to 25,000 kilolitres per year.
The Vadodara plant is part of the company’s first phase of expansion and is also its first manufacturing facility outside Haridwar, Uttarakhand, where IPL Biologicals currently operates two units. The company has been active in the agricultural biologicals segment for nearly three decades and focuses on microbial-based crop solutions aimed at improving soil health and reducing chemical input usage.
Built across 12 acres with around 2,00,000 square feet of floor space, the new facility will manufacture biofertilisers, biopesticides and crop health products for domestic and export markets. According to the company, the plant has automated harvesting and transfer systems designed to improve operational efficiency and large-scale production capability.
The manufacturing unit has a production capacity of 40 kilolitres per day and operates through a zero-liquid-discharge system. The company also said the facility generates 500 kilowatts of captive solar power to support sustainable operations. The plant has received ISO 9001:2015 certification along with IMO, Indocert and OMRI organic certifications.
The expansion comes amid increasing focus on sustainable agriculture and reduced dependence on chemical fertilisers in India. In recent years, the government has promoted natural farming, organic inputs and biological alternatives as part of efforts to improve soil quality and reduce long-term environmental impact from excessive chemical fertiliser usage.
Harsh Vardhan Bhagchandka, President of IPL Biologicals, said the newly launched plant is part of the company’s phase-1 growth strategy. He stated that after investing INR 200 crore in the Vadodara facility, the company plans to invest another INR 210 crore in the next phase of expansion.
The company reported a 40 per cent increase in turnover to INR 290 crore during FY26. IPL Biologicals said the new Gujarat facility will help meet rising demand from central and southern India while also supporting exports to overseas markets.
The company is also expanding its international footprint and is currently registering its products in 15 countries. IPL Biologicals supplies agricultural biological products to more than 45 million farmers across 27 countries through a network of over 8,000 distributors. The company currently holds 19 patents, while another 37 patent applications are pending approval.
Mahesh Bhagchandka, CMD of IPL Biologicals, said increasing domestic production of biological agricultural products could help reduce India’s fertiliser subsidy burden and lower reliance on imported chemical inputs. He also urged the government to introduce industry-friendly policies that can accelerate the adoption of biological products among farmers.
Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who is associated with the company as brand ambassador, attended the launch event and spoke about the importance of soil health and long-term agricultural sustainability. RSS Pracharak Suresh Soni, environmentalist Gopal Arya, scientists, policymakers, distributors and farmers were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
