The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has launched an e-auction for 149 residential plots located in Gomti Nagar Extension and Basant Kunj as part of a larger property sale exercise across Lucknow. Nearly 475 properties, including residential, group housing, institutional and commercial assets worth around INR 3,000 crore, have been put up for auction. The online bidding process will remain open till May 28. Plot sizes range from 25 square metres to 300 square metres, while the authority has also included land parcels for group housing projects and institutional development under its proposed Edu City initiative.
The Lucknow Development Authority has started the e-auction process for 149 residential plots across Gomti Nagar Extension and Basant Kunj, expanding its ongoing efforts to monetise land assets and increase planned residential development across the city. The plots form part of a wider auction involving nearly 475 properties with a combined estimated value of around INR 3,000 crore.
According to officials, the online auction portal will remain active till May 28, and interested applicants can participate after depositing 10% of the reserve price as earnest money deposit (EMD). The auction includes residential plots, group housing sites, institutional land parcels, commercial shops and flats spread across multiple LDA schemes in Lucknow.
Among the key offerings are 12 newly developed residential plots in Sector-6 of Gomti Nagar Extension. These plots were created on land that was recovered during anti-encroachment and land audit drives conducted by the authority in the past few months. Officials indicated that the reclaimed land has now been converted into planned residential inventory for public sale.
The plot sizes in Sector-6 range between 112 square metres and 225 square metres. The reserve price has been fixed at INR 36,000 per square metre, taking the estimated value of the plots to nearly INR 40 lakh to INR 82 lakh depending on the size and location of the parcel.
In Basant Kunj, the authority has put 137 residential plots on auction in Sector-H, Sector-I and Gau Ghat areas. The plots range from compact 25-square metre parcels to larger 300-square metre plots. Officials stated that the smaller plots are expected to be priced around INR 8.5 lakh, while the larger plots may cost close to INR 1 crore.
The e-auction also includes group housing plots near Rifa-e-Aam Club on Jagat Narayan Road in Wazirganj. Four such plots have been listed for residential development projects. In addition, two more group housing plots located in Sector-7 of Gomti Nagar Extension have also been included in the sale process.
LDA additional secretary Gyanendra Verma said the authority is trying to bring more organised housing development into both expanding residential corridors and older city areas through planned land utilisation. The inclusion of group housing sites in central locations is expected to support future residential supply in areas where large land parcels are limited.
Apart from residential properties, the authority has also offered nine institutional plots in Anant Nagar under its proposed Edu City project. The project is being planned as an education-focused development zone and is expected to attract institutions and related infrastructure projects in the coming years.
Commercial shops, flats and housing units across several LDA schemes have also been included in the ongoing auction cycle. The latest exercise comes at a time when the authority is actively focusing on land recovery, redevelopment and affordable housing expansion in Lucknow.
Recently, the authority also moved ahead with plans for nearly 900 LIG and EWS flats on Sitapur Road on land that was cleared through anti-encroachment action. Over the past year, LDA has increased the pace of plotted development, group housing auctions and infrastructure-linked housing projects, particularly in Gomti Nagar Extension and adjoining growth corridors where residential demand has remained steady.
