The Andhra Pradesh government has successfully completed land acquisition for a major advanced data centre project linked to Google in the Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli region, marking a significant step forward for large-scale technology infrastructure investment in South India. A total of about 601.4 acres has now been cleared and allotted through the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, up from an earlier approved 480 acres, to the notified developer for construction of data centre campuses. The expanded land parcel is expected to support part of the company's multi-billion-dollar investment one of the largest AI and hyperscale data centre initiatives in the country and will attract further economic activity and employment to the region. The allocation covers multiple sites and strengthens Visakhapatnam's position as a priority destination for global digital infrastructure projects.
The Andhra Pradesh government has achieved a key milestone in advancing a major data centre project associated with Google by completing land acquisition and expanding the allotment for technology infrastructure development near Visakhapatnam. The initiative forms part of a broader effort to position the state as a leading hub for artificial intelligence, cloud services and hyperscale computing infrastructure.
According to an official government order, the land allotted to Raiden Infotech India the Indian unit of Google and its notified partner, Adani Infra (India) Ltd, has been increased from an earlier 480 acres to about 601.4 acres under revised allocations approved by state authorities. The land parcels have been allotted through the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) and span three locations across Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts. These include around 266.6 acres at Tarluvada, 160 acres at Adavivaram and Mudasarlova, and 175 acres at Rambilli, creating a strategic land base for the planned data centre campus.
The expanded land allotment is part of a project valued at nearly INR 90,000 crore that aims to establish advanced data centre facilities capable of supporting AI, cloud computing and digital services at scale. The Andhra Pradesh government's approval of the larger land bank reflects both government support for cutting-edge technology infrastructure and investor confidence in the region's potential to attract large-format digital economy assets.
Officials noted that the land parcels will be incorporated into special purpose vehicles fully owned by Raiden Infotech to ensure streamlined compliance with regulatory requirements and smooth project execution. The involvement of large parcels across multiple sites is expected to facilitate phased development of data centre campuses, auxiliary infrastructure and associated investments.
The successful land acquisition is seen as a major boost for Visakhapatnam's economic landscape, complementing other initiatives to attract technology firms and digital infrastructure projects. With this groundwork in place, the region is poised to benefit from increased employment, ancillary business opportunities and enhanced positioning on the global digital infrastructure map.
