Synopsis

Indian Railways is set to operate the Nagercoil Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express via Thiruvananthapuram, strengthening coastal connectivity between Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. The weekly overnight service will connect major cities including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Kannur before reaching Mangaluru. Designed with modern Amrit Bharat Express rakes and non-AC coaches, the service aims to provide a comfortable and practical travel option while easing congestion on existing trains. The service will be launched alongside other new Amrit Bharat routes flagged off by the Prime Minister.

Indian Railways will introduce the Nagercoil Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express via Thiruvananthapuram to enhance rail connectivity along the southern coastal corridor. The weekly service will depart Nagercoil at midday on Tuesdays, reaching Mangaluru the following early morning. On the return, the train will leave Mangaluru on Wednesdays and arrive back in Nagercoil at night. The route includes about 20 stops, covering important stations such as Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kollam, Kayamkulam, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

The train will operate overnight, providing an efficient option for passengers traveling between Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. The Amrit Bharat Express coaches feature non-AC accommodation with modern facilities designed for comfort during long journeys. Indian Railways expects this service to reduce pressure on existing trains operating on this busy corridor while improving overall travel convenience.

The launch of this service coincides with the Prime Minister's visit to Kerala, during which he will flag off multiple Amrit Bharat Express trains, including new routes such as Thiruvananthapuram Tambaram and Thiruvananthapuram Hyderabad. These additions reflect Indian Railways focus on expanding connectivity between states and providing more travel options to passengers.
