Telangana Chief Minister Shri Anumula Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to speed up land acquisition and payment of compensation for highway projects, including the Regional Ring Road (RRR), greenfield highways, and elevated corridors. He has set the end of October 2025 as the deadline for completing the acquisition and compensation work. The CM has warned that district collectors, revenue officers, and mandal officers who delay will face removal. The move follows concerns over delays due to permissions, legal cases, and unclear alignments affecting farmers and infrastructure progress.
The Telangana Chief Minister has asked officials to ensure that land acquisition and compensation payments for highway projects are completed by the end of October 2025. The order was given during a review meeting with district collectors, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials, revenue officers, and forest department representatives at the Secretariat.
The projects in focus include the Regional Ring Road (north and south parts), the 12-lane greenfield highway from Bharat Future City through Amaravati to Machilipatnam, and the elevated corridor between Raviryala and Mannanur on the Hyderabad-Srisailam route. The government has claimed the greenfield highway will reduce travel distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada by about 70 km. Collectors were instructed to finalize highway alignments and clear delays in permissions and forest clearances.
The CM said that delays caused by pending arbitration cases, court cases in some districts, and slow release of funds must be addressed without delay. Officials were told to upload land acquisition lists quickly so that compensation processes can begin. Revanth Reddy warned that collectors, revenue divisional officers (RDOs), and mandal revenue officers (MROs) who are negligent in their duties will be removed from service.
The government noted difficulties arising from forest and environmental rules, saying some permissions are held up by old violations and wildlife or forest classifications. Where needed, alternate land will be provided, and forest clearance issues must be resolved. The CM expressed willingness to personally engage with Union ministers to resolve obstacles in highway work.
In the past, progress on major highway projects in Telangana, especially the Regional Ring Road, has been slow due to compensation disputes and prolonged approvals. Farmers in several districts have raised concerns over delays in payment, while some stretches of the RRR have remained stalled for years. The fresh directive aims to prevent the repetition of such delays and ensure smoother execution of the upcoming highway works.
