Synopsis

The Delhi-Haryana-Rajasthan RRTS corridor, spanning 102 km from Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan to Shahjahanpur-Behror in Rajasthan via Gurugram, is set to begin construction in August 2026. Managed by NCRTC, the project is estimated to cost INR 35,000 crore and will be jointly funded by the Centre and state governments. The route includes underground and elevated sections along NH-48, with key stations at Aerocity, Cyber City, Iffco Chowk, and Hero Honda Chowk. Construction is expected to conclude by 2031, followed by testing. This corridor is part of a wider plan to improve regional transit, aiming to ease congestion, shorten commute times, and promote sustainable urban development in the NCR.

The Delhi-Haryana-Rajasthan Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor will begin construction in August 2026, according to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), marking a significant advancement in regional connectivity. The 102-kilometer corridor will link Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Shahjahanpur-Behror in Rajasthan, traversing key urban centers including Gurugram.

According to the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR), the project's estimated cost stands at INR 35,000 crore, with funding shared among the central government and the state governments of Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan. The updated alignment features a shift from the previously planned Old Delhi-Gurgaon road to the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, starting from Aerocity. The route will include underground sections passing through INA, Munirka, and Aerocity in Delhi, and will continue underground along NH-48 with a station at Cyber City. It will then transition to an elevated track along NH-48, passing through Iffco Chowk and Signature Chowk, before going underground again at Rajiv Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk stations.

The construction timeline outlined in the DPR indicates that general consultants for the project will be selected between December 2025 and May 2026. Land acquisition and preliminary investigations are scheduled from December 2025 to November 2027. Elevated structures are planned to be constructed between August 2026 and August 2030, while underground structures are expected to be completed by January 2031. Subsequent work on tracks, signaling, and related systems is slated for completion by June 2031, followed by system testing from May to October 2031.

The Delhi-Haryana-Rajasthan RRTS corridor is part of a broader initiative to enhance regional rapid transit in the National Capital Region. It complements other corridors such as the Delhi-Meerut RRTS, which has already commenced operations, and the Delhi-Panipat RRTS, currently under development.

By integrating advanced transit solutions and reimagining urban connectivity, the project aims to alleviate congestion, reduce travel times, and foster economic growth across the National Capital Region. As construction progresses, the corridor is poised to become a cornerstone of sustainable urban development, setting a precedent for future transit initiatives in India.
