Between April 24 and 26, 2025, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) carried out a major demolition drive in South Delhi's Sainik Farms area, targeting unauthorized under-construction farmhouses across 5,060 sq. m. of encroached land in Saidulajab Village. Conducted with police support, the action aimed to reclaim prime public land and curb illegal development. Originally established for defense personnel, Sainik Farms has evolved into an upscale yet unauthorized colony, excluded from the PM-UDAY regularization scheme. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has undertaken a significant demolition drive in the upscale Sainik Farms area of South Delhi, targeting illegal constructions on encroached land. The operation, conducted between April 24 and 26, 2025, focused on unauthorized under-construction farmhouses spread over approximately 5,060 square meters in Saidulajab Village, which falls within the Sainik Farms zone.


The DDA, in coordination with the Delhi Police, executed the demolitions to reclaim high-value public land. Officials noted that the illegal structures had been under development for an extended period, reflecting a broader trend of unauthorized land use in the area.

Sainik Farms, originally established in the 1960s as a cooperative society to rehabilitate war widows and retired defense personnel, has evolved into a high-end residential colony. Over time, it has attracted non-defense personnel, leading to the construction of large houses and villas, often without proper authorization. Despite its affluence, Sainik Farms remains an unauthorized colony and was excluded from the 2019 Pradhan Mantri-Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY), which aimed to regularize 1,731 unauthorized colonies.

The DDA has indicated plans for further action against unauthorized constructions in other posh areas of the city. This move underscores the authority's commitment to enforcing land use regulations and reclaiming public land from illegal encroachments.
