In a notable real estate transaction, Dawat-e-Hadiyah, the administrative arm of the Dawoodi Bohra community, has purchased Killick House, a heritage building located in Mumbai's Fort area, for over INR 72 crore. This acquisition underscores the community's ongoing commitment to preserving historical structures within the city.
Killick House, situated on Hornby Road adjacent to the Cathedral School, encompasses a basement, ground floor, and three upper floors, totaling approximately 27,577 square feet of built-up area. The building is classified as a Heritage Grade 1 property by the Heritage Conservation Committee, highlighting its architectural and historical significance.
The property was acquired from Nippon Investment and Finance Company, formerly associated with the Videocon Group. The transaction was executed through four separate agreements, registered between January and March 2025.
Killick House has a rich history, having served as the headquarters for Killick Nixon Ltd, a British-era trading and shipping company established in the 19th century. The building stands as a testament to Mumbai's colonial past and its evolution into a modern metropolis.
This purchase is not Dawat-e-Hadiyah's first foray into acquiring heritage properties. In 2017, the trust bought the iconic Fort House from the Videocon Group for approximately INR 300 crore, further demonstrating its dedication to preserving Mumbai's architectural heritage.
