Synopsis

Faridabad is set for major infrastructure upgrades with projects like the 59 km DND-Faridabad-KMP Expressway, a 56 km FNG Expressway, and proposed metro links to Gurugram and Palwal. The expressways aim to enhance regional connectivity, with full operationalization expected by 2025-28. Under the Smart Cities Mission, 45 projects worth INR 960 crore are underway, achieving 86% budget utilization by March 2025. The Faridabad Municipal Corporation has also approved a INR 1,964 crore budget for FY26, prioritizing roads, water supply, and waste management. Together, these initiatives are transforming Faridabad into a modern, efficient urban hub with improved transport and infrastructure networks.

Long regarded as an industrial powerhouse on Delhi's southern border, Faridabad is now embracing a broader vision-one focused on modern urban living, integrated transportation, and smart infrastructure. As the city expands rapidly in 2025, a slew of major projects are being rolled out to position Faridabad as a critical node in the National Capital Region's growth story.

A major development is the DND-Faridabad-KMP Expressway, a 59 km, six-lane access-controlled corridor connecting Delhi's DND Flyway to the KMP Expressway at Khalilpur in Haryana. This expressway, part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project, includes a 31 km spur linking Faridabad to the upcoming Jewar Airport, enhancing regional connectivity. Construction began in May 2021, with significant sections already operational and full completion expected by May 2025.

Complementing this is the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway, a 56 km, six-lane highway designed to connect Faridabad with Noida and Ghaziabad. Approximately 28 km of this expressway will traverse the Neharpar region of Faridabad, promoting development in these emerging sectors. While sections in Noida are nearing completion, the entire corridor is projected to be operational within the next three years.

In terms of public transportation, the proposed 32.14 km Faridabad-Gurugram Metro line, estimated at INR 5,900 crore, aims to link key areas between the two cities. Additionally, a 24 km corridor connecting Faridabad to Palwal is planned, with an estimated cost of INR 4,400 crore. However, as of early 2025, these projects await budgetary allocations to commence.

Faridabad's inclusion in the Smart Cities Mission has led to the initiation of 45 projects under the Faridabad Smart City Limited (FSCL), with INR 960 crore allocated. As of March 2025, approximately 86% of the budget has been utilized, with several projects completed or nearing completion. The program has been extended to ensure the completion of remaining initiatives.

The Faridabad Municipal Corporation has approved a INR 1,964 crore budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, focusing on infrastructure development, including road improvements, water supply enhancements, and waste management systems.

Collectively, these infrastructure projects signify Faridabad's commitment to sustainable urban development, aiming to transform the city into a modern, efficient, and livable urban center.
