The Hootagalli City Municipal Council (CMC) has expanded its jurisdiction with the addition of 45 layouts transferred from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), increasing its scope from 33 layouts to 78. This includes residential and industrial areas, enabling the council to enhance revenue collection and services for a growing population. Residents in these newly added layouts, previously unable to transfer khatas or secure property loans, can now access essential property documents. The CMC plans to collect property taxes and provide amenities such as drainage, water supply, and roadworks in phases. This transfer marks a significant step in resolving past challenges and fostering urban development in the region.
The jurisdiction of the Hootagalli City Municipal Council (CMC) has been expanded with the inclusion of 45 newly developed layouts handed over by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). Previously, the CMC catered to 33 layouts, including the industrial zones of Hinakal, Koorgalli, and Belwadi. This enlargement of its operational area enables the council to not only enhance its revenue collection but also extend improved services to a larger residential population.
Approximately 6,000 houses have been built across the 33 layouts in Hootagalli. Additionally, around 9,000 plot owners with sites of various sizes are awaiting approval of their building plans from the Hootagalli City Municipal Council (CMC) to commence construction.
The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) had plans to transfer 900 newly developed layouts to local urban bodies. Earlier this month, it transferred 240 layouts, including 45 that now fall under the jurisdiction of the Hootagalli City Municipal Council (CMC).
Residents who had constructed houses and site owners in the 45 newly added layouts under the Hootagalli City Municipal Council (CMC) previously faced challenges in selling their properties due to the lack of permission for khata transfers from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). With the inclusion of these layouts under the CMC's jurisdiction, residents and site owners can now obtain khata and other essential property documents, secure loans against their properties, and sell their properties without hindrance.
Hootagalli City Municipal Council (CMC) Commissioner BS Chandrashekhar stated to a publication that, with the recent transfer of the layouts, the CMC is currently preparing to collect property tax and other cesses from property owners. He mentioned that the council is also set to issue khatas and other essential property documents. Additionally, a detailed plan has been devised to provide basic amenities such as underground drainage (UGD), drinking water, and road asphalting, with other development works to be executed in a phased manner.
The transfer of layouts to Hootagalli CMC represents a significant step forward for urban development and governance. It has addressed historical grievances, enabling residents to secure property-related documentation and financial benefits. The council's plans for systematic infrastructure development, including drainage, drinking water, and roadworks, further signal a positive outlook for the area's growth.
