The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has filed an FIR against 18 individuals for constructing unauthorised housing projects on government land in Tusyana village, causing financial losses to the government and misleading buyers with false claims of freehold property. Despite multiple warnings, the offenders continued these activities, prompting GNIDA to initiate strict action. GNIDA officials aim to declare these individuals as "land mafia" and launch a crackdown against such illegal developments. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has also imposed restrictions on unauthorised constructions in the region, highlighting violations of environmental laws.
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has lodged an FIR against 18 individuals involved in constructing unauthorised housing projects on government land in Tusyana village. These illegal projects not only encroached on public land but also led to financial losses for the government and deceived buyers by falsely marketing the properties as freehold and offering them at lower rates.
According to officials, many investors were misled into spending their savings due to the offenders' fraudulent claims. The FIR was filed by GNIDA's project department at the Ecotech 3 police station, detailing that the accused individuals conducted illegal plotting and construction activities in the village.
Authorities noted that several warnings had been issued to halt the illegal activities, but these notices were ignored. Even after initial interventions stopped on-site work, the colonisers resumed the unauthorised plotting secretly. GNIDA CEO NG Ravi Kumar directed officials to declare these individuals as "land mafia" within 15 days and to launch a campaign targeting illegal constructions in the notified area.
The land in question is part of GNIDA's proposed projects under the Greater Noida Master Plan, and such unauthorised activities negatively impact these initiatives. GNIDA CEO Prerna Singh reiterated that no construction is permitted in the notified area without proper approvals. Citizens were urged to verify property details with the Authority to avoid falling prey to fraudulent schemes.
Earlier this month, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) imposed restrictions on illegal construction and unauthorised developments in the region. This action was initiated following a petition by former municipal councillor Rajendra Tyagi, highlighting widespread violations in 56 villages of Greater Noida and 18 villages in Noida. The petition underscored how such unauthorised developments contravened environmental laws, including the Air Act and the Water Act.
The crackdown by GNIDA against illegal housing projects in Tusyana village sends a strong message about the Authority's commitment to upholding regulations and protecting public interests. Citizens are urged to verify property details before investing in the notified area to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
