The Uttar Pradesh government has approved mandatory Aadhaar-based authentication for all property registrations across the state, effective from February 1, 2026. The move requires biometric and e-KYC verification of buyers, sellers, executants and witnesses at Sub-Registrar offices. The decision aims to curb land fraud, impersonation and forged registrations, which have led to disputes and litigation in the past. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has extended its property tax amnesty scheme SUNIYO until February 28, 2026, allowing property owners to settle long-pending dues without paying interest or penalties. The scheme offers a full waiver of arrears before FY 2020-21 if taxpayers pay principal dues for the current financial year (2025-26) and the past five years. So far, over 1.78 lakh taxpayers have participated, contributing INR 1,032.91 crore, including 96,169 first-time taxpayers who paid INR 367.26 crore, showing a notable increase in compliance and tax revenue.Read more

The Uttar Pradesh government has prepared a detailed proposal to introduce a metropolitan corporation for Noida, following directions issued by the Supreme Court after examining governance concerns at the Noida Authority. The move comes in response to findings by a Special Investigation Team that highlighted structural weaknesses, limited public accountability, and financial irregularities involving excess land compensation of about INR 118 crore.
