Mumbai: BMC enforces ban on new road excavations as monsoon approaches

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has reiterated its commitment to halting road excavations as the monsoon season nears. Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani had earlier announced the suspension of road excavations until ongoing concretisation projects are completed. The directive has been communicated to civic officials, with citizens encouraged to report any violations. BMC has set a deadline for all pending concretisation work by May 31, 2025, ensuring that no new roads will be dug up after February 22, 2025. To improve transparency, BMC has introduced QR codes at project sites, providing citizens with real-time updates. Goa to develop Porvorim IT park under Build Lease Operate Transfer model

Highway monetisation gains momentum with INR 18,000 crore target for March

The National Monetisation Pipeline-II (NMP-II) is set to expedite the monetisation of highway assets between FY26 and FY30, with a target of INR 3.5 lakh crore to be raised through leasing operational and other highway networks. This figure is over twice the estimated funds raised in the first phase (FY21-FY25). The ongoing monetisation process under NMP-I, which aimed for INR 1.6 lakh crore, has already achieved INR 1.2 lakh crore, with the remaining balance expected to be mobilised by the end of the financial year.
