The Bombay High Court has constituted a three-member committee to resolve a land dispute at Danda Koliwada in Mumbai's Khar West, where a proposed slum rehabilitation project overlaps with land used by the local Koli fishing community. The court directed senior officials from the Urban Development Department, the suburban collector's office and the Slum Rehabilitation Authority to hear all parties and, if required, carry out fresh demarcation. Brookfield Properties has entered into a built-to-suit lease agreement with JPMorganChase to develop a new office tower of around 1.3 million sq ft in Powai, Mumbai. Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde has directed developers to strictly implement air and noise pollution control measures at construction sites to improve the city's air quality. Addressing a special meeting of developers and architects, he emphasised compliance with the municipal corporation's standard operating procedures issued in line with High Court directions. The civic body has proposed measures such as installation of CCTV cameras and air quality displays at sites, expansion of air quality monitoring stations, stricter dust control norms and penalties for violations.
