Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd has received approval from the Ministry of Railways through the Railway Board to register as a Wagon Leasing Company under Indian Railways Wagon Leasing Scheme. This allows the company to own and lease wagons across the national rail network, complementing its manufacturing operations with asset ownership and freight mobility solutions. The company will comply with all operational, safety, maintenance, and regulatory requirements. RailTel Corporation of India Ltd has won a INR 455 crore contract from the Ministry of Railways to deploy the Kavach automatic train protection system over 1,067 route kilometres in the Jabalpur Division of West Central Railway. The project covers high-density corridors, including Itarsi-Manikpur, Satna-Rewa, the Katni complex, and other sections. Scope includes design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, optical fibre works, towers, and related civil, track, and electrical work under an EPC model, to be completed within 960 days. India's aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has issued 352 show-cause notices to scheduled commercial airlines over the last two years for various regulatory violations. The data was shared by the civil aviation ministry in Parliament. IndiGo received the highest number of notices, followed by Air India and Air India Express. Of the total notices issued, penalties were imposed in 139 cases, while 113 resulted in warnings. The regulator continues close monitoring of airline operations, safety standards and fleet expansion activity.Read more

The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) had formally regularised 31 residential colonies in Jammu based on a series of government orders issued between 1974 and 2009, alongside judicial directions from 2010. However, the High Court recently stayed the regularisation process. The Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister clarified that future residential colonies will only be developed after proper land allotment, either through self-financing or Public-Private Partnership models with statutory board approvals. The Janipur Housing Colony did not require regularisation as its plots were legally allotted during its early 1970s establishment. Pace Digitek has secured a 250 MW solar power project combined with a 1.1 GWh battery energy storage system in Karnataka's Pavagada Solar Park. State-owned Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has initiated steps to raise INR 2,994 crore through an equity share issuance, subject to shareholder approval via postal ballot. An allegedly unauthorised reinforced cement concrete (RCC) structure on Pune's Baner Hills has continued to stand more than five years after the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) issued an order for its demolition, prompting renewed concerns from local residents and environmental groups about delayed enforcement. The structure, located in a zone reserved as a biodiversity park (BDP), was found to have been constructed without civic approval, and a notice was issued at the end of 2020 directing its removal within 30 days. Despite this, the structure which houses a statue remains intact, with activists and citizens groups urging prompt action to address potential safety risks given its proximity to a busy highway. The Uttar Pradesh government has increased spending on infrastructure, industry and textiles in its 2026-27 Budget, with INR 27,103 crore proposed for infrastructure and industrial development and over INR 5,041 crore for handloom and textiles. The Union government is expected to grant approval soon for the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the proposed Vizag Metro Rail project, sources said, with an in-principle approval order anticipated within the next few days. Once cleared, the project will be referred to relevant ministries and placed before the Public Investment Board for appraisal and final sanction. The metro scheme, covering approximately 46.23 km with 42 stations across three corridors, carries an estimated cost of INR 11,500 crore. Funding is planned jointly by the Union and Andhra Pradesh governments, each contributing around 20 per cent, while the balance is expected to be raised from international lenders at competitive rates. Tendering activity has already started ahead of formal approval, with the successful bidder likely to be announced once the DPR is finalised.
