After a decade of uncertainty, Unitech, a real estate developer, has resumed construction on six long-delayed residential and commercial projects in Nirvana Country 2, Gurugram. The six projects, launched in 2009 but halted in 2014 due to regulatory issues and financial difficulties, cover 1,073 units, including plots sold but never delivered. The revival follows the renewal of licences and environmental clearances.

Mumbai's Cuffe Parade police have booked seven directors of a real estate firm, RA Associates, for cheating 70 investors of Rs 65 crore. The investors were promised 15% annual returns and property allotment upon completion of a project. Payments stopped in 2020, and despite promises, no properties were allotted. An FIR has been filed and the EOW is investigating the matter.

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has launched the registration for the Anant Nagar Housing Scheme, offering over 340 plots in the first phase. Spanning 800 acres with an INR 7,000 crore investment, it will provide 10,000 flats, 5,000 for EWS and LIG, and 3,000 under PMAY, and 4,000 residential plots.

Subhash Ghai sold two apartments in Splender Complex, Jogeshwari, Mumbai, for INR 11.61 crore. Each 889 sq ft apartment was sold for INR 5.80 crore. The transactions, registered in March 2025, incurred INR 34.83 lakh stamp duty and INR 30,000 registration fee. Ghai had earlier bought a INR 24 crore apartment in Bandra West.

According to a CBRE report, India's office leasing market saw strong growth in Q1 2025, with 18 million sq. ft. absorbed, a 5% YoY increase. Foreign firms leased 11.16 million sq. ft. and domestic firms 6.8 million sq. ft. The BFSI sector led, contributing 26% of absorption. Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai accounted for 64% of leasing. Residents of AECS Layout C Block in east Bengaluru are protesting against two buildings with unauthorised extra floors, fearing a disaster similar to the Babusapalya collapse. BBMP issued demolition notices, but a High Court order on April 1 stayed them, giving the builders 10 days to appeal. Starting April 21, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) will implement new Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste management guidelines to streamline waste disposal. Residents can dispose of minor C&D waste at designated locations free of charge, while larger waste generators must arrange independent disposal or use GCC services for a fee. Strict penalties for illegal dumping and non-compliance with disposal guidelines will apply.

Beechfield House, built in 1878, was a family home until its conversion to a hotel in the 1960s. The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL) has filed a police complaint requesting an FIR and investigation into forgery allegations made by Macrotech Developers. The accusations involve fabricating documents to exploit the 'Lodha' trademark.

Macrotech Developers reported pre-sales of INR 48.1 billion in Q4 FY25, marking a 14% year-on-year increase. For FY25, pre-sales totalled INR 176.3 billion, a 21% growth. The company’s collections for Q4 FY25 stood at INR 44.4 billion, up 26%, with full-year collections reaching INR 144.9 billion, a 29% growth. The Nashik Municipal Corporation has served notices to 70 developers for not maintaining traffic islands as per their obligations under development agreements. Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the NMC has developed a total of 100 traffic islands on a build, develop, repair, and maintain basis. Formal agreements, outlining a 10-year maintenance period and royalty payments to the NMC, were established with these developers. Further action is being considered for non-compliant developers.

Residents of Patna’s Ward 11, are facing difficulties obtaining property tax receipts for the current fiscal year (2025-26) despite timely payments. Though payments are processed online and visible on the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) website, receipts issued are for the previous financial year (2024-25). This issue is particularly troublesome for senior citizens, who require the current year's receipts for official purposes.

The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) conducted an e-lottery to allocate plots in the NTR Smart Township MIG layouts across Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram districts. In the first round, 25 plots in Adduuru and 3 in Garividi were allocated. In the fourth round, 113 plots were allocated in Palavalasa, bringing the total to 339 out of 472 plots. The layouts offer affordable prices and include modern infrastructure. Government employees and pensioners receive discounted plots.

The Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TGRERA) has directed a Hyderabad-based real estate firm to refund the entire amount paid by buyers in nine cases related to the "Western Galaxy" commercial project at Gopanpally. The project, which promised commercial units by December 2024, was delayed, and the firm failed to deliver. The firm must pay 11% annual interest from the MoU date, with refunds to be completed within 90 days. TGRERA also ordered the return of collateral land upon refund. Non-compliance will lead to penalties.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is conducting a survey of unauthorised constructions in response to a 2023 Bombay High Court directive. The process involves issuing notices, holding hearings for property owners, and issuing final orders. NMMC commissioner Kailash Shinde confirmed the compliance report will be submitted to the court soon.

In March, the UK construction industry saw a sharp contraction, with the S&P Global/CIPS Construction PMI at 46.4, up slightly from 44.6 in February. The Union government has notified the Construction & Demolition (C&D) Waste Management Rules, 2025, effective from April 1, 2026. The new regulations require Mumbai's construction industry to register with the BMC, report waste, meet recycling targets, and implement traceability. Mumbai generates 8,500 tons of C&D waste daily, with two existing recycling plants, and a third planned at Deonar.

The Karnataka High Court upheld the land acquisition for the expansion of Banashankari 6th Stage layout, dismissing petitions from landowners and nursery operators. The Telangana government is launching an AI-based property registration system to enhance transparency, reduce irregularities, and expedite the process. Starting in mid-April at Champapet and Saroornagar, the system aims to complete registrations in 10-15 minutes. AI will allocate offices randomly, track foot traffic, and block illegal or environmentally sensitive transactions.

Japan’s MUFG Bank is nearing a deal to acquire a stake in Yes Bank, valuing the lender at around USD 6.5–7 billion. Initially expected to purchase SBI’s 23.98% holding, MUFG may eventually secure a majority stake.
