The northeastern region of India is poised to witness a substantial influx of investment, potentially ranging from INR 2.5 to 3 lakh crore, across various sectors, according to Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia. Speaking ahead of the Rising Northeast Investors' Summit 2025, Scindia disclosed that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has secured investment commitments amounting to INR 1.12 lakh crore through nine roadshows, excluding previously announced investments. With the summit set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, DoNER plans to engage with major industrial houses such as the Tata Group, Reliance Industries, and Aditya Birla Group to further boost investment figures.Read more

The first trial run of Metro Line-9, a crucial metro corridor connecting Mira-Bhayander to Mumbai's western and eastern suburbs as well as the international airport, commenced earlier this week. The initiative marks a significant milestone as Thane district witnesses the launch of its first metro service. The trial run was inaugurated by Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Eknath Shinde and Shri Ajit Pawar, along with other key officials. The 4.4 km corridor from Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon features four stations and is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce pollution, while facilitating seamless connectivity to Mumbai's key transport hubs. The Bhayanderpada Flyover on Ghodbunder Road, a critical infrastructure project aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity, was inaugurated earlier this week by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde. Mumbai Metro Line 9, extending from Dahisar to Mira Road, is gearing up for trial runs as construction work approaches completion. The 11 km corridor, which includes a 5 km elevated section, is designed to integrate with Metro Line 7, aiming to reduce travel time between Colaba and Mira Road to approximately 90 minutes. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has reported that nearly 85% of the work has been completed, with essential infrastructure and electrification nearing final stages. ILP 4 India 1 Pvt Ltd has acquired a 3.95-acre land parcel in Kurla, Mumbai, for INR 193.5 crore from Shri Aditya Finwealth, according to real estate consultancy Square Yards. Registered in May 2025, the deal includes existing structures with a built-up area of 4,519 sq m and involved a stamp duty of INR 11.61 crore. The land is designated for industrial use under Development Plan 2034, making it suitable for warehousing or logistics projects. The Indian government has granted approval for a semiconductor joint venture between HCL and Foxconn, aimed at establishing a wafer manufacturing facility at Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, with an investment of approximately INR 3,706 crore. The plant is set to produce display driver chips for mobile phones, laptops, automobiles, and other electronic devices. According to the Union Cabinet, the facility will process 20,000 wafers each month and is anticipated to generate roughly 2,000 jobs. The Gujarat government approved INR 2,204 crore earlier this week for Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana urban development projects. This funding aims to enhance infrastructure across five municipal corporations, three newly formed corporations, three urban development authorities, and five municipalities. The allocated funds will support projects such as road construction, drainage systems, stormwater lines, gardens, libraries, recharge wells, city beautification, unique identity projects, and social infrastructure development. Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Shri Eknath Shinde recently inaugurated Phase 2 of Mumbai Metro Line 3, a 9.6 km underground stretch from Worli's Acharya Atre Chowk to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). This brings the operational corridor to 20 km, improving north-south connectivity between Aarey and Worli. Covering key locations like Dharavi, Dadar, Mahim, and Siddhivinayak Temple, the expansion is expected to boost real estate activity in surrounding areas. Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has sought permission from the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) for a no-objection certificate (NOC) to utilise over 5,800 square metres of land for constructing 10 stations in the first phase of the new metro corridor. The budget allocated for this phase is INR 1,286 crore. The complete metro corridor is designed to span 28.5 kilometres, linking Millennium City Centre to Cyber City with 27 stations, and will cost INR 5,452 crore. Assam Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that Guwahati will soon host 11 new five-star hotels, positioning the city as a regional hospitality hub. This includes two Marriott properties-Marriott Resort & Spa and Fairfield by Marriott-spread over 25 acres with a combined investment of INR 500 crore. The projects, initiated under Advantage Assam 2.0, have already begun construction. Additional developments include four more Marriott hotels, two Taj properties, a Lemon Tree hotel, and Radisson's expansion with 100 more keys.
