The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has rejected a proposal seeking an additional cost escalation of around INR 7.9 crore for the Goregaon flyover extension project. The matter was placed before the civic standing committee by the administration, but members did not grant approval and asked for further examination. The committee has directed that a site inspection be conducted before reconsidering the proposal. The flyover project has already seen multiple revisions in its overall cost over time, and concerns related to delays and planning have led to closer scrutiny of further expenditure requests.Read more

A parliamentary panel has flagged uncertainty around the Chabahar Port project due to changing geopolitical conditions and US sanctions on Iran. While India has already completed its committed investment of USD 120 million, no fresh budget allocation has been made for the upcoming financial year. The port remains strategically important for India's trade access to Afghanistan and Central Asia, bypassing Pakistan. However, evolving global policies, regional tensions, and the status of sanctions waivers have raised concerns about the project's continuity and future operational clarity.Read more

The Nashik Municipal Corporation has extended the deadline for completing utility works on 28 key roads linked to the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. The move allows additional time for laying underground infrastructure such as water pipelines, drainage lines, gas pipelines, and optical fibre networks before road construction begins. These roads are part of a larger infrastructure push worth around INR 1,270 crore aimed at improving connectivity across Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. The extension reflects coordination challenges among agencies, while ensuring that roads are not repeatedly dug up after completion.Read more

The Ghaziabad Development Authority collected only about 50% of its compounding fee target for the current financial year, highlighting a shortfall in a key revenue stream. Against a target of around INR 103 crore, the authority managed to collect nearly INR 52 crore across its zones. Compounding fees are charged for minor deviations in building plans. Alongside this, the authority also lagged in mutation processing performance on the state dashboard. Officials have linked the shortfall to operational challenges and are planning corrective steps to improve collections and efficiency.Read more
