The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has terminated the user fee collection contract at the Bara Fee Plaza in Uttar Pradesh after reports of misbehaviour and alleged assault of a highway user. The incident occurred on January 14, 2026, at the toll plaza located on the Lucknow Sultanpur stretch of NH-731. NHAI said it has taken a serious view of the matter and ended the contract of the toll collection agency, M/s Skylark Infra Engineering Pvt Ltd. In addition, the authority has issued a show-cause notice to the agency and proposed debarring it from participating in NHAI bids for one year. NHAI has also proposed forfeiture and encashment of bank guarantees worth INR 5.3 crore linked to the contract.Read more

The Goa government has made it mandatory for large residential, commercial, industrial, and government buildings to install rooftop rainwater harvesting systems. This move is aimed at improving water conservation and recharging groundwater in the state. Delhi Police's EOW has filed an FIR against Suraksha Group for allegedly diverting more than INR 230 crore from Jaypee Infratech Ltd, funds meant to complete stalled flats. The FIR, based on ED inputs, also names Lakshdeep Investments and other entities. The ED had earlier flagged diversion of INR 235 crore, describing it as a breach of trust. Suraksha Group had acquired JIL in mid-2024 under NCLAT approval. The Supreme Court has clarified that homebuyers maintenance societies and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) do not have the legal right to intervene in the insolvency proceedings of a developer under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). The court observed that such societies are formed to manage common facilities and do not automatically qualify as financial creditors unless they have directly advanced money or are legally recognised. The ruling reinforces that only genuine creditors aiming at corporate revival can participate in the insolvency process.
