The Gurugram Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has issued a show-cause notice to Mayfield Garden's N Block RWA and a private party for encroaching on 1.25 acres designated for a public dispensary in Sector 51. Enforcement officials found unauthorised shops, houses, and labour hutments on the reserved land, violating the approved layout and Haryana urban planning laws. The notice demands explanations and relevant approvals, warning that failure to comply could lead to demolition, legal action, and FIR registration. Residents have raised concerns over the loss of planned healthcare facilities.
Gurugram's Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has issued a show-cause notice to the Resident Welfare Association of Mayfield Garden's N Block and a private entity for allegedly encroaching on 1.25 acres of land reserved for a public dispensary in Sector 51. Officials found that shops, houses, and labour hutments, collectively known as Kamla Market, had been built on land that was part of the colony's approved layout, violating urban development regulations.
The land was developed under multiple licences granted between 1994 and 2009, and the encroachments contravene the sanctioned statutory layout. During a site inspection, enforcement officials confirmed that the unauthorised structures were in direct violation of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975. Section 3B of the Act prohibits the erection or re-erection of buildings in licensed colonies unless strictly following approved plans and licence conditions.
Authorities noted that the encroachments not only violate the approved layout but also deprive residents of essential public amenities planned for the sector. The show-cause notice instructs the RWA and the private party to remove the illegal structures, submit relevant documents, and explain why enforcement actions, including demolition and FIR registration, should not be initiated. They are required to appear at the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) office in Sector 14 and provide copies of approved layout or building plans and any permissions obtained from competent authorities.
Residents have expressed concern over losing the dispensary land, highlighting that Sector 51 currently lacks adequate primary healthcare facilities. They stressed that the dispensary was part of the original plan and hoped the authorities would act firmly to restore the land for public use.
The DTCP's notice is part of wider efforts in Gurugram to reclaim encroached land and ensure that urban planning norms are followed. In the past, similar enforcement drives have targeted illegal structures and obstructions on public land, focusing on restoring essential amenities and preventing unauthorised developments. The authorities' strong stance reflects an ongoing push to maintain the integrity of licensed colony layouts and safeguard community resources.
