The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) did not receive any bids for highway projects covering around 912 km, with a total value of about INR 18,885 crore, under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model. The move was part of efforts to bring back private sector participation in road development. However, developers stayed away due to concerns around traffic uncertainty, financial risks, and project viability. The outcome shows that despite policy support, private players remain cautious about investing in BOT-based highway projects.Read more

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has received a notice from the Maharashtra irrigation department demanding payment of INR 143 crore towards pending water charges and penalties linked to alleged excess consumption and inadequate sewage treatment. The department has warned of possible suspension of water supply if dues remain unpaid. Civic officials have contested the demand, stating that the charges include disputed components such as industrial tariffs and penalties. The 20.5-km four-lane ring road in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, is nearing completion, with authorities planning a trial run shortly after March 20. The project, estimated at around INR 1,100 crore, has reached approximately 95 per cent completion after nearly four years of construction under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Designed to bypass the city, the corridor will connect National Highway-74 and NH-87 while passing through 12 villages and extending into neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.
