Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has begun setting up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at 25 bus depots in the Greater Hyderabad area to support the planned deployment of 2,200 electric buses this year. Additional stations will come up at Suryapet, Sangareddy, and Nalgonda depots. Officials have estimated a 124 MW power requirement for these facilities and coordinated with the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company to ensure proper electrical infrastructure. Essar Green Mobility is planning to deploy 30,000 LNG and electric trucks across India, supported by a nationwide network of 100 alternative fuel and charging hubs. The initiative aims to reduce freight-related emissions by around one million tonnes annually. Backed by USD 275 million in equity funding, the strategy integrates truck manufacturing, fleet operations and fuelling infrastructure. Suzlon has secured a 248.5 MW wind project order from ArcelorMittal Group, marking its fourth major order aimed at decarbonising steel production in India. Part of a larger 550 MW hybrid project at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel facilities in Gujarat, the wind capacity will be used for captive consumption. Over the past year, Suzlon has partnered with leading steelmakers to support low-carbon steel initiatives. Maharashtra has directed that all new fuel outlets on MSRTC land must include electric vehicle (EV) charging stations alongside conventional diesel and CNG facilities. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik emphasized that while nearly 90% of the current MSRTC bus fleet runs on diesel, the state is gradually transitioning to electric buses, with future procurements prioritizing e-buses. Chennai Metro Asset Management Limited (CMAML), a joint venture between Chennai Metro Rail Limited and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, has been commissioned to prepare a detailed feasibility report (DFR) for a high-altitude cable-propelled ropeway transport system in Udhagamandalam (Ooty), officials said in a press release. The study, to be carried out by consultants Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, Bengaluru, and Switzerland-based Outdoor Engineers AG, has a contract value of about INR 96.63 lakh and is expected to take 120 days to complete. The assessment will cover technical feasibility, route alignment, potential ridership, and environmental and social impacts, as well as traffic-management proposals for the hill station. The initiative aims to evaluate ropeway transport as a sustainable, efficient and eco-friendly solution to improve mobility in the ecologically sensitive and tourism-oriented region.Read more

The Maharashtra Cabinet Infrastructure Committee approved a 35 km Metro Line 8, known as the Gold Line to connect Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai with Navi Mumbai International Airport, at an estimated cost of INR 22,862 crore. The corridor will have 20 stations, including six underground and 14 elevated, with about 9.25 km underground and 24.63 km elevated. Land acquisition of 30.7 hectares is projected to cost INR 388 crore. The government aims to complete approvals and land acquisition within six months, and construction in three years, reducing travel time to roughly 30 minutes.Read more

Chennai's long-delayed Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) extension between Velachery and St Thomas Mount is now scheduled to open in February, offering seamless daily rail connectivity across the city's south-eastern and south-western corridors after nearly two decades of postponements. The 4.5 km link will add three stations at Adambakkam, Puzhuthivakkam and St Thomas Mount, allowing commuters to travel from Chennai Beach to St Thomas Mount without changing trains, once final safety clearance is secured. The project, which has faced repeated setbacks primarily due to land acquisition hurdles and overlaps with Chennai Metro Phase II works, has now completed final trial runs. The extension is expected to significantly improve east-west and north-south rail connectivity, integrate with the metro and suburban networks, and enhance commuter convenience in the rapidly growing Chennai metropolitan area.Read more

Madhya Pradesh has formalized agreements with three private firms Torrent Power, Adani Power, and Hindustan Power projects to set up new power plants with a combined capacity of 4,000 MW and investments totaling INR 60,000 crore. The projects, located in Anuppur district and developed under the DBFOO model, aim to meet the state's electricity demand entirely and create around 8,000 jobs.
