Construction of stage II of the Trichy Junction Road Over Bridge is moving forward with authorities targeting an opening by June after multiple delays slowed the project earlier. The Southern Railway has begun assembling key steel spans procured from Katpadi, while the state highways department is progressing with approach roads and retaining walls. Delays were largely caused by land acquisition issues and late procurement of bridge components. Once operational, stage II will handle outbound city traffic, complementing the already functional first stage and easing congestion around the busy junction.Read more

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is preparing to invite bids for the privatisation of 11 airports under a bundled public-private partnership (PPP) framework by April. This will mark the third phase of airport monetisation after a gap of nearly five years. The airports have been grouped into five bundles, pairing high-traffic airports with smaller regional ones to improve commercial viability. Major domestic and global airport operators have shown interest. The government expects to raise about INR 6,000 crore for reinvestment in aviation infrastructure.Read more

Nagpur Metro's Phase 3 expansion is poised to become the largest growth stage in the system's history, adding approximately 54.5-55 km of new lines and bringing the total network to around 129 km, sources said. The expansion plan, incorporated in Nagpur's Comprehensive Mobility Plan and now included in the Detailed Project Report (DPR) process, will feature four key corridors: a c. 25 km route along the Inner Ring Road and three additional links enhancing north-south connectivity and last-mile access to industrial and greenfield zones. Once completed, the extension will position Nagpur Metro among India's most extensive urban rail systems outside larger metropolitan markets. The DPR, expected within nine months, will determine final alignments, station locations and elevated or underground sections before phased construction begins after completion of Phase 2.Read more

The Karnataka government has revised building regulations for industrial plots under the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), increasing permissible built-up limits to enhance land use and attract investment. The changes, effective from early February, raise the maximum floor area ratio (FAR) that developers can achieve up to 5.2 for plots along wider roads through a premium payment mechanism, marking a significant rise from earlier limits. Ground coverage norms have also been relaxed. The revised framework applies across industrial areas, special investment regions and integrated townships, enabling greater vertical development, multi-storey factories, multi-level warehousing and mixed-use developments. Authorities said the move aims to optimise land utilisation and support denser, higher-output industrial and commercial growth, particularly in and around Bengaluru's key corridors. Industry bodies welcomed the reforms as a boost to investment climate and industrial expansion.Read more

The Nagpur Metro is catalysing the transformation of the city into multimodal urban growth zones, with authorities promoting high-density development around metro corridors as part of a broader transit-oriented development (TOD) strategy. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation has initiated land use action plans to integrate mixed-use developments including commercial, residential and social infrastructure within about 500 metres of major metro stations. Officials overseeing the initiative said the approach aims to improve land-use efficiency, enhance last-mile connectivity and attract investment into integrated urban zones. Plans for new business districts, combined with strategic infrastructure such as ring roads and single-window approvals for land allotment, are expected to further position Nagpur as a hub for economic and residential growth centred on its expanding metro network.Read more

Hyderabad's office real estate sector is expected to witness substantial expansion in new grade-A space between the final quarter of FY26 and FY27, with a projected addition of 18-19 million sq ft, according to a report by rating agency ICRA. Occupancy is projected to remain steady at around 82-83% by the end of FY27, supported by continued demand from IT-BPM and banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) occupiers. Around 23 % of the forthcoming supply is already pre-leased, reflecting sustained market interest. Leasing activity in the city has been resilient, with net absorption slightly outpacing new completions in the first nine months of the current fiscal, helping reduce vacancy rates. Key micro-markets such as Hitec City-Madhapur, Gachibowli and the Financial District continue to lead both supply and demand in Hyderabad's office landscape.Read more

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is likely to miss its highway project award targets for FY26 as delays in approvals and project preparation slow the bidding process. Against a plan to bid out 124 projects spanning over 6,300 km, bids have been invited for only about 60% of the projects so far. The gap is wider in value terms, with fewer large projects reaching the bidding stage. Slower land acquisition, prolonged clearances and limited private sector appetite for large contracts have affected the pace of awards.Read more
