Punjab Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the Shahpur Kandi project earlier this week, aiming to strengthen the state's power generation and irrigation infrastructure. Built at a cost of around INR 3,394.49 crore, with Punjab contributing the major share and the remainder funded by the Centre, the project will benefit large tracts of farmland in the Majha region while creating employment opportunities. The Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) has announced a temporary suspension of flight operations on November 20 for six hours to carry out its annual post-monsoon maintenance. Both intersecting runways 09/27 and 14/32 will remain closed from 11 am to 5 pm. The airport operator has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) in advance to help airlines and ground staff adjust flight schedules and operations. The maintenance will include surface repairs, technical inspections, and checks of runway lights, markings, and drainage systems.Read more

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Varanasi-Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express later this week, marking another addition to India's expanding semi-high-speed rail network. The train will operate six days a week, covering 443 km in about 7 hours 40 minutes. It will connect major cities and pilgrimage points such as Vindhyachal, Prayagraj Chheoki, Chitrakut Dham, Banda, and Mahoba. This will be the fifth Vande Bharat Express originating from Varanasi, aimed at improving tourism and easing travel between eastern Uttar Pradesh and central Madhya Pradesh.Read more

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will take charge of resurfacing three key flyovers at Vikhroli, Vakola and Aarey, under a project estimated at around INR 30-35 crore, with reimbursement to follow from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). The move follows directives from Shri Piyush Goyal and Shri Devendra Fadnavis aimed at easing traffic flow on the Western Express Highway. Tendering was scheduled this week and work is expected to begin in early December. The flyovers, though under MSRDC's jurisdiction, will now be handled by the civic body to speed up repairs.Read more

The Noida International Airport at Jewar is poised to benefit from a multi-modal access network combining road, rail and bus links, according to the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The airport, already linked to the Yamuna Expressway, will also connect to the Delhi�Mumbai Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. A detailed project report has been approved for a rail corridor and a new station on the high-speed Delhi�Varanasi line is being included. Bus and electric-bus services will link nearby cities and metro networks, while ride-hailing and car rental ties are in place. Phase 1 will be on 1,334 ha with one terminal and capacity for about 12 million passengers annually, developing over four phases to 5,000 ha and up to 300 million passengers one day.Read more

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has deferred the completion of the 11 km six-lane road linking Magadi Road and the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway to early 2026. The project, developed at a cost of INR 500 crore, has been delayed due to continuous rainfall and pending approvals from the South Western Railway (SWR) for the underpass construction at Challaghatta. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved an INR 20 crore project this week to redesign 48 high-risk road junctions across Mumbai in collaboration with the Mumbai Traffic Police. These intersections were identified through a survey by the World Resources Institute India (WRI India) and the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI) in 2021-22. The improvements will include widening footpaths, installing dedicated lanes, reducing crossing distances, and calming traffic.
