Mindspace Business Parks REIT is investing INR 350 crore to develop a 330-key luxury hotel at its Mindspace Madhapur campus in Hyderabad, pre-leased to Chalet Hotels Ltd. The project will occupy 5.3 lakh sq ft and is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027-28, including ancillary commercial space. Mindspace Madhapur is a 13 million sq ft IT/ITeS hub with Westin hotels and the Inorbit Mall. Makmor has signed an LoI with German company MD Aircraft GmbH to acquire 10 nine-seater electric regional aircraft, MDA1 eViator, aimed at enhancing India's regional air travel. The aircraft, designed for short take-off and landing from smaller airstrips, promises lower operating costs and near-zero emissions. Initial flight tests are planned for 2028, with certification and commercial operations by 2030. Akasa Air has become the first airline to begin commercial operations from the new integrated terminal at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Ltd is expecting to generate around INR 350 crore from a serviced residence project on EM Bypass in Kolkata, which will be used to fund the construction of a new luxury hotel in the city. The mixed-use development is being undertaken in partnership with Ambuja Neotia Group and marks the first collaboration between the two Kolkata-based groups. Spread across 3.35 acres of land owned by Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, the project will comprise a 69-unit serviced residence development alongside a 218-key luxury hotel. Both components are targeted for completion by 2030. A SpiceJet Boeing 737 operating flight SG121 from Delhi to Leh returned to the national capital after facing a technical issue mid-air. Around 150 passengers were on board at the time of the incident. The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and all passengers were disembarked without any difficulty. Sources indicated that the aircraft experienced an engine-related issue. The airline confirmed the return as a precautionary measure. No injuries were reported. Nexus Select Trust has announced plans to acquire a 50% stake in an under-construction retail mall in Dombivli, part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, as part of its portfolio expansion strategy. The transaction involves an investment of INR 434 crore and will be executed through a partnership with Runwal Enterprises. The proposed mall, to be known as Nexus Runwal Gardens Mall, is expected to offer a substantial gross leasing area and will be operated jointly by the two parties. Radisson Hotel Group has entered into a long-term strategic partnership with MBD Group to accelerate the expansion of its luxury and lifestyle brands, Radisson Collection and Radisson RED, across India. Under a Master Franchise Agreement, MBD Group will support development, management and franchising activities at mutually agreed locations, complementing Radisson's existing development pipeline and partner network. Marriott International recorded its strongest-ever expansion year in South Asia in 2025, signing 102 hotel agreements and adding more than 12,000 rooms, with India accounting for 99 of the deals. The company reported double-digit growth in revenue per available room across the region, supported by higher average daily rates and sustained demand across segments. Development activity accelerated sharply, with deals signed rising 143% year-on-year and rooms signed increasing 76%. At the end of 2025, Marriott operated 219 properties with over 36,000 rooms across South Asia, including 204 hotels in India. The company said the performance reflects structural growth in travel demand, rising domestic consumption and increasing investor confidence, reinforcing India's position at the centre of Marriott's regional growth strategy.Read more
