Radisson Hotel Group has entered into a long-term strategic partnership with MBD Group to accelerate the expansion of its luxury and lifestyle brands, Radisson Collection and Radisson RED, across India. Under a Master Franchise Agreement, MBD Group will support development, management and franchising activities at mutually agreed locations, complementing Radisson's existing development pipeline and partner network. The collaboration is aimed at tapping into rising demand for premium, design-led hospitality experiences in key Indian markets. The planned portfolio will follow an asset-light strategy, with around 80 per cent of properties being managed or franchised and the remaining 20 per cent owned, reinforcing scalable growth in one of Radisson's priority markets.
Radisson Hotel Group earlier this week announced a long-term strategic partnership with MBD Group to expand its luxury and lifestyle hotel presence in India through a Master Franchise Agreement. The collaboration is focused on strengthening the footprint of Radisson Collection and Radisson RED brands across key domestic markets, in line with the group's broader growth strategy in the country.
Under the agreement, MBD Group will support the development of Radisson Collection and Radisson RED hotels at locations identified and mutually agreed upon by both parties. Its role will extend across business development, hotel management and franchising functions, working alongside Radisson Hotel Group's independent development initiatives and existing partner network in India.
Radisson Hotel Group stated that India's premium hospitality segment continues to witness strong growth, driven by rising demand for contemporary, design-oriented lifestyle experiences among both domestic and international travellers. The partnership is expected to enhance Radisson's ability to scale its upper-upscale and lifestyle brands while maintaining consistency in brand standards and guest experience.
Nikhil Sharma, managing director and chief operating officer for South Asia at Radisson Hotel Group, indicated that the collaboration would strengthen the group's expansion capabilities across key Indian cities. He noted that MBD Group has been associated with Radisson for over two decades, positioning both organisations to jointly deliver distinctive hotels while accelerating brand growth.
From MBD Group's perspective, the agreement represents a strategic milestone in its hospitality journey. Sonica Malhotra Kandhari stated that the partnership aligns with the group's long-term vision of scaling its hospitality portfolio through globally recognised brands and professional management platforms.
The planned portfolio under the agreement is expected to follow an approximate mix of 80 per cent managed and franchised hotels and 20 per cent owned properties. This structure reflects a shared emphasis on an asset-light expansion model, allowing faster market penetration while optimising capital deployment.
India remains a priority growth market for Radisson Hotel Group, with increasing traction in the luxury and lifestyle segments. The partnership with MBD Group is expected to contribute to deeper market coverage, particularly in urban centres and emerging destinations where demand for premium hospitality offerings continues to rise.
