Lucknow Police has strengthened 'Operation Pehchaan' by holding landlords accountable if tenants involved in criminal activity are found to be living in their properties without proper verification. With the city seeing a surge in migrant inflow, authorities say some offenders have been renting homes using false identities. Tenant registration is now mandatory through the police website or the UPCOP app, to be completed before move-in or within a month. Police will verify details through physical checks, and landlords must keep copies of key documents. Rules for foreign nationals require Form C submission and prompt reporting. Regular reviews by ACPs, ADCPs and DCPs aim to ensure strict compliance.Read more

U.S. existing home sales increased in October as lower mortgage rates encouraged buyers, though high home prices and unemployment continue to constrain the market. Sales reached a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.10 million units, slightly above forecasts, and first-time buyers accounted for 32% of transactions. Home inventory rose 10.9% year-over-year, but remains below pre-pandemic levels, with the median home price at USD 415,200. All-cash transactions grew, while distressed sales remained steady. Experts emphasize that first-time buyer participation still falls short of levels needed for a strong market.Read more

The Karnataka High Court has upheld the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) attachment of Flat 7A in Kingfisher Towers, Bengaluru, finding that the property legally remains with United Breweries Holdings Ltd (UBHL) and not with the purchaser. The court rejected the claim that an unregistered agreement to sell conferred title, ruling that ownership had not passed without a registered sale deed. It agreed with the ED that the flat could be treated as 'proceeds of crime' under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), reinforcing the agency's long-running asset-recovery effort in the Vijay Mallya case.Read more

Mumbai's evolving skyline reflects a major shift driven by widespread redevelopment across its prominent western suburbs. Ageing, low-rise buildings are gradually giving way to contemporary luxury homes designed for long-term value creation. Homebuyers who once viewed luxury primarily as a lifestyle choice now see redeveloped properties as instruments of wealth preservation and generational security. With land scarcity, enhanced amenities, better infrastructure, and rising demand for safer and future-ready homes, redevelopment has become central to reshaping the city's urban fabric. This renewed appeal is supported by improved policies, growing investor confidence, and a broader focus on sustainable neighbourhood transformation.Read more

Britain's government announced earlier this week that planning applications for new homes located close to railway stations would receive an automatic go-ahead, provided they comply with defined criteria. The measure forms part of the Labour government's push to accelerate homebuilding and address persistent planning barriers. Although the administration has set a target of constructing 1.5 million homes before the next general election in 2029, official forecasts issued earlier this year indicated it was likely to fall short. The proposal also introduces stricter oversight on council rejections of large housing schemes.Read more
