Under the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations (UDCPR), societies with a built-up area of 20,000 sqm must install and maintain functional STPs. Despite prior warnings, 50 societies have received third and final notices, with PCMC threatening to cut water supply if compliance isn't ensured. Out of 456 societies under this mandate, 192 lack operational STPs. PCMC has appointed a private agency for regular STP inspections to improve compliance.

A special PMLA court in Lucknow has declared Rashid Naseem, promoter of Shine City Group, a fugitive economic offender under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated the case following 554 FIRs alleging that Shine City defrauded investors of INR 800-1,000 crore through fraudulent real estate schemes and multi-level marketing. Naseem fled India via Nepal and is currently residing in Dubai, evading summons, a non-bailable warrant, and an Interpol Red Notice. The ED has attached assets worth INR 127.98 crore and filed four chargesheets in connection with the case.
