The Telangana High Court has criticised the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) for allegedly taking over a 650 sq yd private land parcel in Sahebnagar Kalan, Hayathnagar, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The court, while hearing a petition filed by the landowner, observed that the agency's actions appeared unconstitutional and questioned its intervention in a dispute already under judicial consideration. HYDRAA had reportedly acted on claims that the land encroached upon a public park. The court has sought a response from the agency and flagged concerns over repeated instances of similar conduct, indicating continued judicial scrutiny of enforcement actions related to land disputes in the region.Read more

The Haryana government has approved a new mixed land use policy aimed at resolving delays in development approvals and accelerating stalled projects across the state. Cleared by the state cabinet, the policy introduces flexibility by removing fixed percentage caps for residential, commercial, and institutional components within mixed-use zones, while retaining restrictions on industrial expansion. It mandates a 70:30 ratio between primary and allied uses, with scope for variation. The move addresses long-standing regulatory ambiguity that had held up multiple developments, particularly in urban centres such as Gurugram and Faridabad. The policy is expected to provide clarity to developers and enable faster processing of applications under existing planning frameworks.Read more

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has collected approximately INR 80 crore through its property tax amnesty scheme introduced earlier this month, offering a 90% waiver on penalties for lump sum payments. Despite the strong response from taxpayers, the civic body is unlikely to meet its annual property tax target of INR 1,000 crore. Total collections currently stand at around INR 830 crore, significantly below both the target and previous years performance. The scheme, implemented for the first time following demands from elected representatives, aims to recover pending dues and improve compliance. However, the limited duration and structural challenges in tax collection have constrained its overall impact on municipal revenue.Read more
