The Allahabad High Court has asked the Uttar Pradesh government and Noida Authority to clarify whether they have complied with a Supreme Court order on land compensation in a long-running acquisition case. The dispute involves land acquired under the 1894 law, where the Supreme Court ruled that compensation must be recalculated under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition Act, 2013. This law offers higher, market-linked compensation and added benefits for landowners. The High Court noted uncertainty over whether revised payments have been made and granted time to officials to respond. The matter will be reviewed again in February, highlighting ongoing delays in implementing court-backed compensation in major development projects.Read more

Authorities in Gurugram have undertaken a significant demolition drive to clear illegal colonies developed without required permissions, razing unauthorised structures across 8.5 acres of land. The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), supported by local police, carried out the crackdown with enforcement actions in the Pataudi and Farukhnagar areas. In the first phase of the operation, the DTCP dismantled unauthorised development across about 5 acres at two sites in the Pataudi revenue estate, removing damp-proof courses, boundary walls, and internal roads. A second phase targeted approximately 3.5 acres in Sultanpur and Jurola villages of Farukhnagar, where internal infrastructure was also demolished, as part of an ongoing campaign to curb unplanned urbanisation and halt the sale or occupation of land without statutory approvals.Read more
