Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (NMSCDCL) has completed 18 of its 21 projects under the Smart City Mission, with three still in progress. The state government has directed NMSCDCL to transfer completed projects to Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC). NMSCDCL will complete two ongoing projects by April and finish the third by December. The initiative, valued at INR 1,122 crore, includes INR 175.74 crore under the PPP model. NMSCDCL has received INR 897.75 crore but awaits INR 48.51 crore from NMC. Upon completion, these projects will enhance Nashik's infrastructure, reinforcing sustainable urban development and transformation efforts.Read more

The Telangana government has reversed its decision to demolish the Kancha Gachibowli site and will now develop it into one of the world's largest eco-parks. This plan includes land from the University of Hyderabad, which may relocate to the upcoming Future City in exchange for 100 acres and INR 1,000 crore. The eco-park will feature biodiversity zones, observatories, green trails, and wildlife habitats, designed using a micro-ecosystem approach. Between 2019-20 and 2023-24, 59 significant defects were identified across National Highway (NH) projects in 15 Indian states, contributing to recurrent accidents and hazardous 'black spots'. In Parliament, Minister Nitin Gadkari attributed numerous road fatalities to civil engineering errors and poor-quality Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). The issues include pavement failures, retaining wall collapses, bridge damage, and structural deformities, with several contractors facing penalties and rectification mandates. As NH infrastructure expands from 91,287 km in 2014 to 1.46 lakh km currently, the government is intensifying scrutiny of highway safety and construction standards.

Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) will introduce new Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste management guidelines from April 21. Minor waste can be disposed of free at 15 designated locations, while waste generators with 1-20 tonnes must arrange disposal or use GCC services for INR 2,500 per tonne. Bulk waste generators (20-300 tonnes) must transport waste to designated processing centers with a processing fee of INR 800 per tonne. Fines will be imposed for illegal dumping, with penalties up to INR 5,000 for non-compliance and INR 25,000 for improper disposal during large-scale projects.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has acquired an additional plot, C-82 in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai, for INR 758.09 crore from MMRDA to expand its operations. The newly allotted 5,500 sq. meter plot will support the construction of a 22,000 sq. meter built-up area. This move is part of NSE's broader plan to enhance its presence in Mumbai's financial hub and align with global regulatory standards. The expansion will include administrative offices and data centers, adding to the exchange's existing facilities at G Block, which houses NSE's headquarters and regulatory infrastructure.

The BMC is seeking clearance to cut over 60,000 mangrove trees for the northward extension of Mumbai's Coastal Road project. This extension, covering approximately 9.6 km from Versova to Dahisar, is expected to ease traffic congestion in the western suburbs. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has approved the allocation of a 3,400.59 sq. m. plot in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) for the construction of its administrative building, Paryavaran Bhawan. The decision, made during MMRDA's 159th Authority Meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde, aligns with MMRDA's sustainable urban development goals. The lease, granted for 80 years, includes a lease premium of INR 468.60 crore. MPCB has been provided with a flexible payment schedule, allowing 25% of the premium to be paid within two months and the remaining 75% over ten months. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is advancing efforts to integrate the city's suburban rail and metro systems by constructing a network of foot overbridges (FOBs). These will connect suburban railway stations at Pant Nagar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Ram Mandir with metro lines, and also link key locations like Aarey Metro Station to Oberoi Mall and Goregaon (East) metro station to Nirlon Knowledge Park. A new FOB was opened in March between Devipada Metro Station and Oberoi Skycity Mall. MMRDA is also collaborating with the Walking Project in Vile Parle to enhance access to educational institutions as Metro Line 2B progresses. Estimated at INR 129 crore, these projects aim to improve multimodal travel across Mumbai.

Nearly 40% of the six-lane Ulwe Coastal Road-spanning 6.7 km from Amra Marg to the Atal Setu (MTHL) junction at Shivajinagar-has been completed, with CIDCO pushing ahead on this key infrastructure project. The INR 1,591 crore road project, which includes an elevated airport link of 0.903 km, is integral to ensuring seamless connectivity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. CIDCO aims to complete the work by September 2026, with significant financial allocations made in the current and upcoming fiscal years.
