Auto components manufacturer Uno Minda has announced an investment of approximately INR 210 crore for establishing a new casting division facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The initiative aims to cater to the surging demand from OEMs for electric vehicle casting parts. The board recently approved the detailed project report, with plans to phase out the investment over the coming years, funded via internal accruals and term loans. The new unit will add a total capacity of 3,629 MT annually, with the first phase expected to be operational in the second quarter of FY27.Read more

Gentari has commissioned a 150 MW open-access solar power plant in Wardha, Maharashtra-one of the state's largest for commercial and industrial (C&I) users. The facility will generate around 248 million units of clean electricity annually, reducing over 2.38 lakh tonnes of CO emissions-equivalent to removing thousands of cars from the roads. With this project, Gentari's total solar capacity for C&I clients in the state exceeds 225 MW. Sharad Pungalia, Gentari's India head, highlighted strong demand for reliable green energy. The project supports the company's wider sustainability strategy, which includes solar, green hydrogen, and clean mobility solutions across India and the Asia-Pacific.Read more

Adani Group has commissioned India's first off-grid 5 MW green hydrogen plant in Kutch, Gujarat, marking a significant step under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Developed by Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL), the plant operates entirely on solar energy and is integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enabling round-the-clock, grid-independent hydrogen production. The pilot facility showcases the potential of decentralised renewable-powered hydrogen generation and serves as a precursor to Adani's larger green hydrogen hub planned at Mundra. Orthopaedic aids manufacturer Tynor Orthotics has launched a state-of-the-art textile manufacturing unit Ortech Textiles in Mohali, Punjab. Developed with an investment of INR 300 crore, the facility spans six acres and is designed to cater entirely to Tynor's raw material requirements, significantly reducing reliance on Chinese imports. The new unit is expected to generate 1,000 jobs as part of the company's broader expansion plan to grow its workforce from 2,500 to 5,000. The plant was inaugurated by Punjab Industries, IT and Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, who also highlighted recent reforms to accelerate industrial approvals in the state.Read more

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) has launched a INR 5,843 crore expansion at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to meet rising traffic. The plan includes a new 225,000 sq. m terminal primarily for domestic use, a 3,800-meter runway for low-visibility operations, and a 650-meter cross taxiway for wide-body aircraft. Aircraft stands will increase to 163 and parking bays to 5,590. A second cargo terminal (50,000 MT capacity) costing INR 160 crore is set to open by July. The existing terminal is also being expanded at INR 427 crore. A 31-km metro line from Mindspace to the airport is planned to boost access, with GHIAL supporting the initiative. Uttar Pradesh has operationalised the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, its seventh expressway, developed at an investment of INR 7,283 crore. This 91.35 km stretch links Gorakhpur to districts including Azamgarh and significantly strengthens the state's share in India�s expressway network, raising it from 38% to 42%. With over 1,200 km of access-controlled expressways now within its borders, UP leads nationally. The expressway was built partly on land acquired from 22,000 farmers and is projected to transform the socio-economic fabric of the Purvanchal region.Read more

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has introduced a strict penalty policy to address labour shortages and fast-track metro construction. Effective immediately, contractors will face fines of INR 1 lakh per day for workforce shortfalls between 25-50%, and INR 2 lakh per day if the deficit exceeds 50%, with no exceptions or prior notice. These penalties are in addition to existing fines for project delays and will be enforced across key metro corridors set to be commissioned by year-end, including Lines 2B, 4, 4A, and 9. MMRDA officials will conduct regular site audits and review consultant reports to monitor compliance, as the authority aims to curb persistent manpower issues that have historically hampered metro progress.Read more

Mumbai's ambitious road concreting project, launched in January 2023, has achieved 49% completion across 2,121 roads, with 36% fully finished end-to-end. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reports that the initiative is progressing on schedule and aims for total completion by May 2027. Phase 1 covered 700 roads, of which 343 (102 km) are complete, with another 239 roads partially done. In Phase 2, 428 roads (84 km) are fully ready, while 375 have been partially completed. Quality control is being overseen by IIT Bombay, ensuring robust standards through surprise checks and detailed testing. Post-monsoon, remaining works will resume, with strict no-dig policies now in place on completed roads.Read more

Juniper Green Energy has successfully commissioned the 59 MWp solar component of its 75 MW hybrid power project located in Wardha, Maharashtra, significantly ahead of schedule. The solar facility, which forms a part of the Juniper Green Power Five Project, was brought online 17 months before the planned date. The project, backed by a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), also includes 26.4 MW of wind capacity. The Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) for the entire hybrid project remains set for late 2026, marking this milestone as a key step towards full-scale operations.Read more

A consortium of Siemens Limited, Siemens Mobility GmbH, and Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Pvt Ltd has secured a INR 4,100 crore contract from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) for India's first bullet train project. Siemens Limited's share, worth INR 1,230 crore, includes designing, installing, and maintaining advanced signalling and telecom systems using the globally adopted ETCS Level 2 standard. The project will be executed over 4.5 years, with Siemens handling maintenance for 15 years. This move aligns with the 'Make in India' mission and marks a major step toward integrating world-class rail tech into India's transport landscape.Read more
