Work has begun on a 4.26 km, four-lane road over the Rajiv Nagar-Kurji drain in Patna, aimed at easing traffic for over 2 lakh residents. The project includes converting the open drain into a covered box drain and constructing a wide road with footpaths, street lighting, and drainage infrastructure. Contracted at INR 149.5?crore, it will connect key localities including Rajiv Nagar, Mahesh Nagar, Indrapuri, and Patel Nagar, addressing congestion, waterlogging, and sanitation challenges. Mumbai will open the first sections of two major metro lines on December 31. The debut stretches include part of Metro Line 9 between Dahisar East and Kashigaon, and a 5.3 km segment of Metro Line 2B from Diamond Garden to Mandale. Line 9, a 13.58 km elevated extension of Line 7, is awaiting safety clearance, while Line 2B is undergoing trial runs. Both sections are expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. MMRDA plans to open the next phase of Line 2B by next summer, leaving only the central portion pending. Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd (GPPL) has signed a memorandum of understanding with NYK India Private Limited to upgrade its roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) infrastructure. The collaboration aims to enable the port to handle up to 500,000 cars annually, bolstering India's vehicle-export capacity - including electric vehicles - and improving vessel-to-rail coordination. India is moving toward a barrier-free tolling model that will replace traditional toll booths within a year. The road transport minister informed Parliament that the new electronic system is already running at 10 plazas and will be expanded nationwide. It uses the NETC platform along with FASTag, automatic number-plate recognition and AI-based monitoring to allow vehicles to pass without stopping. Northern Railways has resumed the narrow-gauge train services in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra Valley after they remained suspended due to heavy rainfall and landslides earlier this year. The restored operations include two train pairs between Baijnath Paprola and Kangra, and one pair between Baijnath Paprola and Joginder Nagar. Railway officials confirmed that repair work along the damaged stretches has been completed, allowing movement to restart safely. A revised traffic plan has been put in place on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to maintain two-way movement while construction on the Ramban flyover continues. The plan was cleared after DIG Jammu Traffic Range Mohd Haseeb Mughal inspected the stretch between Nachlana and Hingni along with teams from the National Highways Authority of India and the traffic police. Dum Dum Cantonment Metro station has become an important interchange point after Eastern Railway introduced a new suburban service to Bangaon and extended the Hasnabad-Barasat local to this station. These changes, which took effect during the past week, now allow Metro passengers to shift directly to suburban trains without travelling to Sealdah. The updated timetable includes an evening Bangaon local at 8:05 pm and an extended EMU arriving at 7:51 pm. The Bhopal Metro is set to begin operations on December 13, starting with the Subhash Nagar to AIIMS corridor. The MMRDA plans to start the tender process for Mumbai Metro Line 10 by December 15. Construction of Mumbai's Orange Gate-Marine Drive twin tunnel has commenced, targeting completion by June 2028, six months ahead of schedule. The nearly 10 km corridor, with 7 km underground, will run beneath about 700 buildings, including heritage and residential structures, and two major railway lines. Designed to reduce travel time to 5-7 minutes and provide a direct link to Navi Mumbai Airport, the project features advanced safety systems, a 12.2 metre TBM, and cross-passages every 300 metres.
