MSRTC will add 8,000 new buses to its fleet by 2026, according to Maharashtra transport minister Pratap Sarnaik. Tenders for 3,000 buses are already completed, with work orders issued to Tata and Ashok Leyland, while procurement for the remaining 5,000 buses is in progress. The state has also allocated INR 2,893 crore through a supplementary budget to clear long-pending staff dues and ensure timely monthly salaries. MSRTC will recruit 2,500 drivers on contract and continue working on its long-term plan to shift completely to electric buses by 2047.Read more

NTPC Green Energy has begun commercial power supply from a 6.6 MW wind unit at its 100 MW hybrid renewable project in Bhuj, Gujarat. The project is being developed by Ayana Renewable Power Four, part of a joint venture between NTPC and ONGC. With this commissioning, NTPC Green Energy's installed capacity has risen to 7,645.675 MW, while its commercial capacity now stands at 7,639.075 MW. The broader NTPC Group's total installed and commercial capacity has reached 84,931 MW. The new wind addition strengthens NTPC's expanding renewable-energy portfolio and highlights the growing role of hybrid projects in enhancing generation stability and supporting India's clean-energy transition.Read more

The Karnataka government has decided to create a monitoring group to oversee the progress of Bengaluru's Namma Metro Blue Line, which will run from Central Silk Board to KR Pura along the Outer Ring Road. The committee will include government officials and industry representatives and will track construction, review delays, and coordinate road-infrastructure upgrades. The 19 km stretch with 13 stations is planned for completion by December 2026, with extensions toward the airport planned for 2027. Ranchi's administration has cleared a INR 48.72 crore plan to rebuild the ITI Bus Stand, the Government Bus Depot and the Birsa Munda Bus Terminal. Each terminal has been given a separate budget, and the redesign focuses on safer structures, better passenger facilities, organised parking and improved handling capacity. The older depot, which dates back to the 1960s, will be completely reconstructed, while the other two will be upgraded with new buildings and expanded services. IRB Infrastructure reported toll revenues of INR 716 crore for November, a 16% rise from INR 618 crore a year earlier. The figure includes collections from both its InvIT platforms - the IRB InvIT Fund and the IRB Infrastructure Trust. Higher traffic across several BOT and TOT assets drove the growth. The IRB MP Expressway remained the top contributor at INR 158.6 crore, followed by the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Super Expressway at INR 78.1 crore and Hyderabad's Golconda Expressway at INR 77.6 crore. Deputy CEO Amitabh Murarka said strong GDP growth, year-end travel and steady economic activity are supporting robust toll momentum. The government informed Parliament that rooftop solar systems have been installed in 23.96 lakh households under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, amounting to nearly 24% of the one-crore target set for FY2026-27. The BMC has fined contractor S P Singla INR 2.09 crore for delaying Phase 3 of the GMLR flyover. Completion at Goregaon is now expected in May 2026, while only one arm of the Mulund side is scheduled to open by May 31, 2026, with the rest following later. Delays are mainly due to utility relocations and encroachments. Work continues with most pillars erected on the Goregaon side. The Forest Department has cleared Package 2 of the Mysuru-Kushalnagar National Highway project, allowing work to begin on the 22.7-km stretch between Guddehosur and the Hassan-Periyapatna Road Junction. This segment is part of the 92.3-km highway that aims to reduce travel time between Mysuru and Kushalnagar to under 1.5 hours. Over 85% of the required land is already available, including compensation for 8.3 km of forest land.
