MHADA has reopened its online tender for 16 amenity plots across Mumbai after the earlier round failed to draw bids. The plots, located in areas such as Malad-Malvani, Goregaon’s Unnat Nagar, Kandivli Charkop, Vikhroli, Gorai, Akurli, Kurla and Mulund (East), range from 32 sq m to over 7,000 sq m. They are earmarked for community uses including schools, hospitals, playgrounds, shopping areas and welfare centres. MHADA hopes the fresh tender, which combines unsold and new plots, will attract greater interest from developers and institutions. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has strengthened its single-use plastic ban enforcement, collecting penalties totalling INR 20.65 lakh and seizing 2,146.97 kg of prohibited plastic between January and November 2025. Acting under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde, civic teams carried out sustained inspections across commercial establishments, targeting plastic bags and other restricted items. Ten dedicated squads-eight ward-level and two divisional�have been conducting routine checks, with action ranging from fines to confiscation. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has stepped up deep-cleaning and dust-control work across MIDC corridors as part of its wider air-pollution mitigation plan. Beyond routine sanitation, internal MIDC roads are now being cleaned using mechanical brushes and flapper machines, followed by washing with treated water. In Ghansoli ward, a major drive covered the Rabale MIDC stretch from MTNL to Kalpana Hotel, with 30 workers deployed and an encap vehicle used to spray fine mist to reduce airborne dust. A similar effort was carried out on the Siddharthnagar-Fibre Company route. The BMC has fined contractor S P Singla INR 2.09 crore for delaying Phase 3 of the GMLR flyover. Completion at Goregaon is now expected in May 2026, while only one arm of the Mulund side is scheduled to open by May 31, 2026, with the rest following later. Delays are mainly due to utility relocations and encroachments. Work continues with most pillars erected on the Goregaon side. Ashoka Buildcon has secured an additional INR 447.21 crore work under its ongoing BMC flyover project on the Sion-Panvel Highway. The extension covers construction of Flyover Arms 1 and 2 at the T-junction near Maharashtra Nagar in Mumbai's M/E Ward, increasing the total project value to INR 1,573.79 crore. The timeline for the entire project has now been extended to 13 January 2028. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has launched a special dust-control and road-cleaning drive to address rising winter pollution. Acting on Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde's instructions, ward-level engineering and sanitation teams began intensive cleaning on 25 November. The operation includes mechanical brushing, debris removal, road-washing with processed water and footpath cleaning. Over 50 tonnes of dust and debris have already been cleared from 52 major roads covering more than 50 km. Key corridors such as Palm Beach Road, Thane-Belapur Road and the Turbhe APMC stretch have received priority cleaning. Mumbai will open the first sections of two major metro lines on December 31.
