The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a newly constructed two-lane bridge in Gorakhpur’s Taramandal area, developed at a cost of around INR 14.3 crore. The structure has been built over a water body and is expected to ease local traffic movement, improve internal connectivity, and support the growing residential and commercial expansion in the region. The project forms part of the state government’s ongoing push to strengthen urban infrastructure in Gorakhpur.

During the inauguration event held earlier this week, the chief minister said that while the government continues to expand infrastructure facilities across the region, public participation is equally important in maintaining these assets. He stated that cleanliness and responsible use of public infrastructure are necessary to ensure long-term benefits and smoother functioning of urban systems.

He also referred to the past condition of Taramandal, explaining that the area was earlier affected by flooding and had limited civic infrastructure, which had forced displacement during severe flood events in the late 1990s. Over time, the locality has undergone significant changes and is now emerging as one of Gorakhpur’s fast-growing residential and commercial zones.

Adityanath further mentioned the wider development taking place in Gorakhpur, including expansion of road networks, development around Ramgarh Tal, growth in tourism-related infrastructure, and improvements in public facilities such as healthcare and education. He added that industrial activity has also seen revival through initiatives linked to the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority, contributing to local employment opportunities.

Officials noted that the bridge is expected to improve connectivity within Taramandal and support future planned development in surrounding areas. The infrastructure upgrade is also aligned with broader urban development plans focusing on improving mobility and supporting new residential clusters.
