The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) honoured farmer Chintala Sriramamurthy for contributing land towards the development of Amaravati, the state’s planned capital city project.
Sriramamurthy visited the APCRDA office in Rayapudi during the recent e-lottery programme conducted for the allotment of returnable plots to land pooling farmers. He had pooled nearly 16.70 acres of his family-owned land spread across Lingayapalem, Sakhamuru and Kondamarajupalem villages under the Amaravati land pooling scheme initiated for the capital city development.
As part of the e-lottery process, Sriramamurthy was allotted 11 returnable plots. APCRDA officials stated that the allotment was carried out under the existing land pooling mechanism through which farmers who surrendered agricultural land for the capital city are provided developed residential and commercial returnable plots.
Following the allotment process, APCRDA Commissioner V. Vijayarama Raju IAS, Additional Commissioners A. Bhargavateja IAS and Kollabathula Karthik IAS met Sriramamurthy and handed over the provisional certificates related to the allotted plots. The officials also felicitated him with a shawl in recognition of his participation in the Amaravati capital development programme.
The Amaravati land pooling scheme remains one of the largest voluntary land aggregation exercises undertaken for an urban infrastructure project in the country. Thousands of farmers from villages in the capital region had contributed land under the scheme with the expectation of long-term urban and infrastructure growth in the area. The APCRDA has continued the process of issuing returnable plots and related documentation to eligible farmers as part of the ongoing capital region development activities.
