• L&T GeoStructure secured multiple infrastructure contracts worth INR 1,000 crore to INR 2,500 crore across steel, waterways and marine sectors in India.
• The company received its largest piling contract from JSW Utkal Steel for the upcoming 10 MTPA steel plant at Paradeep in Odisha.
• L&T also won Inland Waterways Authority of India contracts for ship repair and maintenance facilities at Patna and Varanasi on National Waterway-1.
• Mumbai Port Authority awarded the company a contract to develop India’s first yacht marina at Mumbai Harbour.
• The projects support India’s growing focus on industrial infrastructure, inland water transport and coastal development.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said its wholly owned subsidiary, L&T GeoStructure, has secured several major infrastructure contracts in India under the company’s “significant” order category, with project values ranging between INR 1,000 crore and INR 2,500 crore.
The newly awarded projects are spread across steel manufacturing infrastructure, inland waterways and marine development, further strengthening L&T’s presence in large-scale engineering and construction projects.
One of the biggest orders came from JSW Utkal Steel for its upcoming 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant at Paradeep in Odisha. The contract is the largest piling order secured by L&T GeoStructure so far.
The scope of work includes nine major packages covering key sections of the steel plant, including the blast furnace, steel melting shop and hot strip mill. The company will execute piling works of nearly 30 lakh running metres within a compressed execution schedule.
The Odisha steel project adds to the growing industrial expansion in the eastern region, where major steel manufacturers have continued to invest due to strong port connectivity, logistics access and availability of raw materials. Odisha has emerged as a key steel manufacturing hub over the past few years, attracting investments from companies including JSW Steel, Tata Steel and AM/NS India.
Apart from the steel sector contracts, L&T GeoStructure also secured two engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders from the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI).
The projects involve developing modern ship repair facilities at Patna in Bihar and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh along National Waterway-1 on the River Ganga. The facilities will include ship lift systems, transfer arrangements and an 800-tonne boat hoist to support repair and maintenance operations for inland vessels.
The inland waterways projects are part of the government’s continued push to improve cargo movement through river transport and strengthen multimodal logistics infrastructure. Over the past few years, National Waterway-1 has seen investments in terminals, cargo handling infrastructure and navigation systems under the Jal Marg Vikas Project.
In another major development, L&T GeoStructure received a contract from the Mumbai Port Authority for the construction of India’s first yacht marina at Mumbai Harbour.
The marina project will include an approach trestle, piled breakwater, service platforms, concrete pontoons and gangways designed to support yacht berthing and marine tourism activities. The project is expected to improve waterfront infrastructure in Mumbai and support the city’s maritime tourism potential.
The marina development also aligns with the Centre’s broader blue economy strategy, which focuses on port-led infrastructure, coastal tourism and marine-related economic activities. Indian ports have increasingly been looking at commercial waterfront and tourism projects alongside cargo operations to diversify revenue streams.
L&T has continued to report strong order inflows across infrastructure, heavy engineering, transportation and energy businesses in recent quarters. The company has previously secured large contracts in metro rail systems, renewable energy projects, industrial facilities and international infrastructure developments.
