Union Minister Nitin Gadkari reviewed national highway projects in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh during meetings held this week, directing officials to strengthen monsoon preparedness measures and improve infrastructure reliability across key corridors.


During the review, the minister examined the quality and maintenance status of National Highways spanning 10,064 km in Rajasthan and 1,947 km in Himachal Pradesh. The assessment focused on ongoing project execution and the condition of existing highway stretches across both states.

He emphasised the need for timely completion of projects along with strict compliance to quality standards. Officials were also instructed to adopt advanced construction methods and modern technologies to support the development of durable, efficient and sustainable highway infrastructure.

The review highlighted that strong highway networks play a key role in improving regional connectivity, supporting economic activity, enhancing commuter convenience and ensuring smooth mobility across important transport routes.

Special attention was given to monsoon preparedness, where officials were directed to ensure effective drainage management, slope protection works, preventive maintenance and rapid response systems. These measures were aimed at reducing disruptions during heavy rainfall and improving long-term road safety and asset durability.
