The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) held a Gram Sabha in Venkatapalem to discuss land acquisition and development activities linked to the Amaravati capital project. APCRDA Commissioner V. Vijayaramaraju said unresolved issues in capital villages would be taken up on priority and assured villagers that regular meetings would continue. Officials clarified that farmers whose lands fall under acquisition notifications can still opt for the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) within the prescribed timeline. The authority also announced plans for village-wise infrastructure teams, night patrolling, road connectivity improvements and quality monitoring of construction works with support from IIT Madras experts.
A Gram Sabha was conducted in Venkatapalem under the supervision of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) to discuss land acquisition and infrastructure development activities related to the Amaravati capital project. APCRDA Commissioner V. Vijayaramaraju IAS and Additional Commissioner A. Bhargava Teja IAS attended the meeting along with senior officials from multiple departments.
During the meeting, the Commissioner informed villagers that land pooling activities were being carried out for roads, LPS zones and other infrastructure projects planned in Amaravati. He explained that while a majority of landowners had participated in the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS), notifications for land acquisition were issued in prescribed formats after repeated discussions with farmers who had not joined the pooling process.
The Commissioner clarified that farmers whose names appeared in the land acquisition notifications still had an opportunity to voluntarily join the LPS within the permitted timeline. According to officials, the government continues to encourage land pooling as part of the larger Amaravati development framework, which was originally introduced during the first phase of the capital city project.
Vijayaramaraju also informed villagers that regular meetings would be conducted with residents of capital villages to address local concerns more effectively. He said road circulation plans were being prepared to improve access between villages and ensure easier movement for residents travelling to and from nearby areas.
The issue of village gates and internal connectivity was also discussed during the Gram Sabha. The Commissioner said these concerns would be resolved based on government decisions and in coordination with the Guntur district administration. He added that village-wise engineering teams were being formed to speed up infrastructure development and improve LPS-related works in the capital region villages.
As part of civic and security measures, APCRDA announced plans to introduce night patrolling teams in coordination with local authorities to strengthen crime prevention and monitoring in Amaravati villages. The Commissioner further stated that experts from IIT Madras would be involved in inspecting the quality of infrastructure works being executed under the capital development project.
Villagers also raised concerns regarding the toll plaza located on the Vijayawada Western Bypass Road passing through Venkatapalem. Residents informed officials that they were being forced to pay toll charges even for travel to nearby villages. Responding to the issue, the Commissioner said discussions had already been held with officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to find a solution.
The APCRDA Commissioner said infrastructure development plans for Amaravati villages were being implemented in phases as construction activity across the capital region gathers pace again. He requested farmers and landowners to cooperate with APCRDA officials and complete registration-related formalities at the designated local competent authority offices.
APCRDA Planning Department Director B. Suresh Kumar (FAC), Deputy Inspector of Survey (LA) S. Ravindra Prasad, Special Deputy Collectors P. Madhusudhan Rao and A.G. Chinnikrishna, Tehsildar P. Satish and other officials were also present during the Gram Sabha meeting.
