The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) conducted a Grama Sabha in Krishnayapalem as part of the ongoing land acquisition and infrastructure development process for Amaravati. Officials informed villagers that land acquisition notices were issued after multiple discussions with farmers who had not joined the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS), while also clarifying that eligible landowners still have time to opt for the scheme. The meeting also focused on village infrastructure issues, including drinking water supply and dust pollution caused by construction vehicles. APCRDA said special engineering teams would be formed to improve civic and LPS infrastructure across Capital Region villages.
The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) conducted a Grama Sabha in Krishnayapalem on Thursday as part of the ongoing land acquisition process linked to the development of Amaravati as the state capital city. APCRDA Commissioner V. Vijay Rama Raju, IAS, and Additional Commissioner A. Bhargava Teja, IAS, attended the meeting along with senior officials from different departments.
During the interaction with villagers, the Commissioner explained that the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) was introduced for the construction of roads, LPS zones and other infrastructure projects planned in the capital city region. He said land acquisition notifications had recently been issued after several rounds of discussions with farmers and landowners who had not yet participated in the land pooling process. According to the officials, the acquisition process was being carried out as per the prescribed legal procedures.
The Commissioner also clarified that farmers whose names were included in the recent land acquisition notifications still have an opportunity to voluntarily join the Land Pooling Scheme within the stipulated timeline. APCRDA officials informed villagers that participation in the scheme would continue to remain open for eligible landowners during the notified period.
As part of the larger Amaravati infrastructure programme, APCRDA said it is forming special engineering teams for individual villages in the Capital Region. These teams will oversee the development of basic civic amenities along with LPS-related infrastructure works. The authority has been accelerating infrastructure activities in Amaravati over the past several months, including internal roads, drainage systems and utility-related works in pooled land areas.
Villagers at the Grama Sabha raised concerns over drinking water supply issues in Krishnayapalem. Responding to the matter, the Commissioner said APCRDA would coordinate with Rural Water Supply (RWS) officials to address the issue. Residents also highlighted dust pollution caused by the movement of heavy vehicles involved in Amaravati construction activities. The Commissioner directed contractors associated with the works to take immediate corrective measures to control dust pollution in the village.
Officials further informed that APCRDA is preparing development plans for villages across the Capital Region alongside the larger Amaravati construction programme. With development activities progressing in multiple areas, the Commissioner sought cooperation from farmers and residents for ongoing works. He also advised farmers who had already received returnable plots under the Land Pooling Scheme to complete their registrations through the locally available Competent Authority offices.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Planning Division Director B. Suresh Kumar (FAC), Director – Lands (Capital City) N. Vasantha Rayudu, Special Deputy Collectors P. Madhusudhana Rao, G. Ravinder and K. Sudharani, along with Tahsildar P. Satish and other departmental officials.
