Adani Airport Holdings has entered into a partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts to develop five hotels across Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The proposed developments will add nearly 1,500 hotel keys under multiple brands, including the India debut of IHG’s luxury lifestyle brand Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. The projects will be part of airport-linked mixed-use developments being planned by Adani Airport Holdings. The move comes amid rising travel demand and growing investments in airport-led urban infrastructure and hospitality projects across India.
Mumbai-based Adani Airport Holdings has signed an agreement with IHG Hotels & Resorts to develop five hotels across Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), strengthening its presence in airport-led urban infrastructure and hospitality developments.
The proposed portfolio is expected to add close to 1,500 keys across different hotel segments and locations, in line with IHG’s expansion plans in India. The agreement will also mark the entry of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, IHG’s luxury lifestyle boutique brand, into the Indian market.
The hospitality projects will include a Kimpton hotel in Jaipur along with Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties planned within upcoming mixed-use airport city developments being developed by Adani Airport Holdings.
Adani Airport Holdings, currently the country’s largest private airport operator, manages airports in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram. The company has been expanding its focus beyond airport operations into commercial real estate, hospitality and integrated urban infrastructure around airport zones.
Pranav Adani, Director at Adani Enterprises Limited, said the group is aiming to build integrated destinations that combine travel, hospitality and urban infrastructure around India’s growing aviation network. He added that the partnership with IHG and the development of five hotels across key gateway cities would help strengthen hospitality infrastructure aligned with long-term growth in travel and the economy.
Industry experts have been seeing increased investments in airport-linked hospitality projects as passenger traffic continues to rise across major and emerging cities. Several airport operators and developers have also been focusing on aerotropolis and airport city models, where hotels, offices, retail and entertainment developments are integrated with aviation infrastructure.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the partnership reflects the strong opportunity the company continues to see in India’s hospitality sector, especially in gateway cities and airport-linked developments that are witnessing growing demand from business, leisure and transit travellers.
He added that the mix of luxury, premium and essential hotel brands under this partnership would help IHG strengthen its footprint across high-growth markets in the country.
IHG Hotels & Resorts currently operates 52 hotels across six brands in India and has a pipeline of 98 additional hotels that are expected to open over the next three to five years. The company has been steadily expanding its India portfolio amid increasing domestic travel, corporate movement and tourism demand.
