Synopsis

Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India has decided to relocate its annual convention NATCON 2026 from Amsterdam to an Indian destination, citing support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal to reduce non-essential overseas travel and conserve foreign exchange amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia. The 23rd edition of the convention, originally planned in Amsterdam for August 2026, will now be hosted in India, with the new venue yet to be announced. NATCON is Credai’s flagship annual industry gathering and attracts more than 1,000 participants, including developers, investors, policymakers, architects and consultants. The move comes as industry bodies and businesses respond to the Centre’s call for prudent economic measures, including reduced foreign travel and greater domestic spending.

Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India announced earlier this week that it has shifted the venue of its flagship annual convention NATCON 2026 from Amsterdam to India, aligning the decision with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal to reduce non-essential overseas travel and conserve foreign exchange amid the evolving geopolitical situation in West Asia.

The 23rd edition of NATCON 2026 had originally been scheduled to take place in Amsterdam in August this year. The annual convention, which is among the largest gatherings in India’s real estate sector, has traditionally been organised at international destinations. Last year’s edition was held in Singapore.

In a statement, Credai said the decision to move the event to India reflected support for the Centre’s broader economic and national interest priorities during a period of geopolitical uncertainty. The association stated that the move endorsed the Prime Minister’s appeal encouraging reduced overseas travel, prudent fuel consumption and greater domestic spending.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged citizens and businesses to exercise restraint in discretionary expenditure in view of the ongoing conflict in West Asia and its potential economic implications. The Prime Minister had specifically called for postponement of foreign travel and judicious use of fuel, while also encouraging measures aimed at protecting the domestic economy from external pressures.

Credai stated that the revised Indian venue for NATCON 2026 would be identified and announced shortly. The organisation did not disclose whether the change in venue would alter the event schedule or participation plans.

The convention typically attracts more than 1,000 participants from across the country, including developers, institutional investors, policymakers, architects, consultants and other real estate stakeholders. The event serves as a platform for discussions on housing policy, urban development, investment trends, infrastructure and regulatory reforms affecting the real estate sector.

Credai President Shekhar Patel stated that the real estate sector needed to align itself with the Prime Minister’s vision and demonstrate collective responsibility during a significant period for the country. He indicated that the industry’s participation in national economic priorities was important given the prevailing global conditions.

Established in 1999, Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India represents more than 13,000 developers through over 230 city chapters across 20 states. The organisation is one of the country’s largest real estate industry bodies and regularly engages with policymakers and government agencies on issues relating to housing, urbanisation and sectoral reforms.
