Synopsis

The Amaravati Development Corporation has directed officials to expedite development works at the N-4 and E-3 road junction near Venkatapalem, a key entry point to the capital region. With rising traffic congestion, the authority has prioritised road surfacing, junction upgrades and safety improvements. Coordination with the National Highways Authority of India has also been emphasised for ongoing works near major bypass crossings. Additional focus has been placed on water diversion and infrastructure readiness around key stretches, indicating a broader push to improve connectivity and support the capital city’s ongoing development.

The Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) has instructed officials to complete development works at the N-4 road junction, which connects Navuluru to Venkatapalem and intersects with the Seed Access Road (E-3), at the earliest. The junction, located near Venkatapalem village, is considered a major entry point into Amaravati and has seen increasing traffic movement in recent months.

ADC Chairperson and Managing Director Smt. D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy directed that the works be taken up on priority. Officials were asked to begin bitumen (BT) road works at the junction and carry out basic beautification measures in the coming weeks to improve both functionality and appearance.

During a review meeting held over the past week, the authority noted that traffic congestion in the capital region has been rising due to ongoing construction activity and partial road usage. In this context, the development of the N-4 and E-3 junction has been identified as critical for smoother vehicular movement.

The ADC also instructed that soil removal works at Kondaveeti Vagu and Pala Vagu crossings, located along the Vijayawada West Bypass and near Venkatapalem and Yarrabalem villages, be completed in coordination with officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). These works are essential to ensure proper drainage and avoid waterlogging, which has affected infrastructure timelines in the past.

Separately, progress on the E-13 extension works along NH-16 was reviewed at the DGP’s office. ADC Chief Engineer B. Narasimha Murthy was directed to make the service road at the junction safer by installing berms along excavated stretches and ensuring that vehicle movement remains uninterrupted.

Officials also inspected ongoing development at Palavagu and Peramma Vagu near the HOD Towers in the capital region. With construction activity picking up pace in this area, discussions were held with engineering teams regarding the diversion of water flows towards the E-5 road to prevent flooding and support infrastructure stability.

ADC Executive Engineers K. Basaveshwara Rao and V. Padmakara Prasad, along with other officials, were present during the site inspections and review discussions.

The Amaravati capital region has been witnessing phased infrastructure development, with a focus on arterial roads, drainage systems and connectivity to national highways. The current push to complete junction upgrades and related works reflects an effort to address immediate traffic concerns while supporting long-term urban planning goals.
